I have found that it is really hard to lose that wonderful person to whom you have been married for many years. I used to think that some days of caring for Speedy were almost impossible to bear. I would be so tired and even some days in pain myself, but now I see that at least he was here. He almost always had a smile on his face (well as much as he was able to smile). We still had each other. Yes, I know that he is at peace. He is in no more pain. Even so, I do miss him very much. I pray that you can find peace and comfort as time goes on.
