Guest guest
> I use half of one as a mid-afternoon snack replacement. I'll be interested to find out if they do have that much sugar. They are tasty and the only bar I've found that I can eat well. The GNC guy told me most of the carbs are not absorbed as sugar. I think we've had this debate before, long time ago, but I'm interested in hearing the latest data. I don't know whether the label is right or the claims are correct or not, but what I do know is, I split a detour bar with my daughter, and half of one gave me enough of something to have a mild dumping (light headed feeling) for about 10 minutes. They are yummy, but they won't be a regular part of my protein bar menu. I bought a few, but I'm saving them for treats once in a while. ~~Lyn

Guest guest
Ok, gotta ask, is it just me or can anyone else eat a whole proetin bar without batting an eye and wish they had more? To me, they're a trigger food that I can inhale just like a Hoover. I have to avoid them at all costs for that reason. However, I don't deny that they're great if you've been withoug food for a while, at least so you can get in some kind of sustenance. But, just eat a half and save the rest for tomorrow? Might as well do Peeps, at least they're not chocolate. I don't know, feed me chocolate and it's never enough, I guess. in NJ

Guest guest
I had the issue with the Extreme Body bars (now discontinued). I was up to 4 per day, 6 protein drinks, rarely food (highest stress time in my life). I'd sit down in front of prime rib and want. a bar. It was bad. Very bad. They didn't make me gain weight, but I'm not sure my feelings about the bars were healthy. But if they didn't hurt me and they mighta given me a g of protein, how bad can they be? Probably worth more to me than my current rage of carrots and grapefruit (not at the same time) Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
Carol, Where do you get the Creamy Keto Bars? I have always been reluctant to buy bars because of the hidden carbs. Since I know that you do much research before eating a bar, I feel comfortable in trying it. Robina

Guest guest
The Keto bar (recently developed) is one of the healthiest bars made. Much effort went into making a bar that had good all around ingredients in it. The even added CLA. Here is the blurb off their website: ++++++++++++++++++ Delicious, Creamy Keto Bars - Perfect for Your Low Carb Lifestyle! No sugar, no aspartame, no saccharin! 2g* of effective carbs and 24g of protein per bar. 12 bars per box. Keto Bars stay soft and scrumptious with no aftertaste! With 2-4 grams* of effective carbs, delicious Keto Bars contain 24 grams of energizing protein, plus healthy blood sugar nutrients glutamine, taurine and whey peptides to quickly knock out carb and sweet cravings. Plus, each Keto Bar contains 250mg of important anti-fat nutrient CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). Yes, low carb dreams do come true! Allergy Information: Contains soy and milk. Manufactured in a plant that uses peanuts, wheat and egg. Nutrition Facts *Effective Carbohydrate Count is determined by subtracting those carbohydrates that have a negligible effect on blood sugar levels from total carbohydrate. Examples include fiber and glycerine. ++++++++++ I don't like to plug things online because we all have different taste buds, needs and likes but for my money Keto makes one of the healthiest (not just lo carb) bars around. Lots of thought went into it. It just hit the market a few weeks ago. Anyone have a website where I can check the ingredients of the " Think Thin " bar? I try to stay away from the bars with hydrolyzed oils and aspartame in them (or high on the list) Carol G. > In a message dated 3/7/2003 1:32:35 PM Central Standard Time, > clis1@e... writes: > > > 25 grams of protein, 3 carbs and no other nonsense like tons of palm > > oil, yadda yadda) > > ---------------------------------- > > Yah?? Guest guest
For me...very bad. I had a box of Detour Bars and I felt myself drawn to the refrigerator each time I got within the DMV zone. It called to me like every other dern addictive food I craved. I sure didn't come this far to deal with cravings, drawings, and desires even if they package it in a protein bar. No thanks. I am about halfway across the desert...gasping for water....heading towards normalcy and I AM going to make it. Yes yes ...I know I will always have this disease, but damn it, I will put the monster in a dark corner with high bars around it and I will not willingly give it the keys. So far it's working. I am moving towards the 2 year mark and below goal and no bad issues I fight with (unless I have major stress in my life..which is not often I don't deal with cravings... I don't deal with daily gas problems... It just ain't worth it for me. Been there...done that. Hugs Carol G. > I had the issue with the Extreme Body bars (now discontinued).
