Guest guest
hi, my name is Colleen, I have had orthognathic surgery back about three years ago. Upper and lower. Then a year later I had a genioplasty. Anyway, this is the reason I am writing. I am a pretty thin person and have a defined jawline. With that said, I am unhappy with the fact that my jawline is very jagged. You can see the breaks in the bones. Where my genioplasty was done, it literally looks and feels like a swoop!! Anyway, I went back to my surgeon about six months ago to see if there was anything they could do and he said that they could do botox injections but that is something that was temporary and I would need to continue doing that. He reminds me I forgot where I came from. I did have an open bite which is now closed. Functionally, it is good but i am so unhappy with the jagged jaw line. More so with the genioplasty or chin advancement. I am tempted to go see another surgeon and get an opinion or even have my genioplasty taken out or shall I saw the hardware taken out!! Any advice or input would be great. Thanks, Colleen

Guest guest
Hey Colleen, i had upper/lower/genio on June 25th. i know what you mean about the swooop. there is something very artificial looking about my chin, my mom was just saying last night that i don't look like the same person. I am not all that unhappy with it, but i know what you mean. I saw my surgeon yesterday after my call on Friday with ear pain, stabbing pain and locking. he thinks it is muscular related. HOWEVER, in our very long conversation, he said that an implant could be done on one side of my chin to make the tissue " poof " out a little more. " Tissue lies where bone tells it to " . I understood what he said and perhaps that would be an option for you. i too thought the i might have to have work done on my chin again for an assymetry reason, the implant sounds like a more reasonable plan. Guest guest
Hi , thank you for your input. That encourages me to go and get a second opinion from another surgeon. I mean you go through all this surgery and you would not expect to look chopped up. If you pursue the implant thing, will you let me know how that goes? Thanks, Colleen > > > > hi, my name is Colleen, I have had orthognathic surgery back about > > three years ago. Upper and lower. Then a year later I had a > > genioplasty.
