Guest guest
As to grams of protein, it's going to vary, depending on the doctor, and my doctor said also depending on the length of intestine removed in the surgery. I asked again on Monday as to how much, and the doc said 50-60. I have the feeling that this is on the low end of what many on here have been told. The doctors handbook addressed the protein need in that this particular group removed the least quantity of intestine possible. Guest guest
n, I've tried to pin-point carbs and sugars with the doctor and dietician (which are in the same office), and they said don't worry about it. Just stick to the guidelines as closely as possible, 1/2 protein, 1/4 fruit, 1/4 veggie, and an occasional carb (except no white bread, white rice, or popcorn). I wanted to know what carbs or sugars would cause a problem, but apparently that's individualized. So I just stick to a minimal amount of carbs and sugars, and so far haven't had a problem. I am interested though in a guideline, so will be watching what others have been told. Joan LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282pre-op/275surg/235/140 jclinton@...
