What you describe, I got this all. Electrical feeling, lots and lots of ear pain, clogged nose and sinus. Numb palate and upper teeth. All of this. Now, at four months, what remains is few ear pain (it lasts 4 seconds, and it's less than once a day now), I have feeling in my upper teeth, but only the 3 back ones. I regained feeling partially in my palate, but there's no pattern. Sinus are sometimes ok, sometimes not. But more often they're fine. I know it's not easy. But try to think of the final results, not your current state. I know I will look terrific in 8 months, I know I will enjoy every possible food I always wanted in 8 months, I will be able to eat without choking never ever in 8 months... My point is, I don't expect for any of this to be ok before the one year mark. I don't say you should do as I do, but experience here as taught me that it can take up to a year for everything to get back to normal. Guest guest
Hi Livia, Everything you have listed here sounds pretty normal. I am at 3 months post op and I still have very little feeling in the roof of my mouth. everything else will come back little by little. The last of my numbness in my chin just went away. Remember it takes 6 to 8 weeks for the bones to heal, after that other things ,like muscles and nerves will start to heal and get back to normal. Your muscles have to get used to a new position and they may protest about that. Your Doc. can send you to PT if you and he/she feel that you are not opening enough yet. I'm sure you heard it before but it is true. You need time and patience, everything will get back to normal and if it does not your Doctor will do something about it. I had a few post-op complicatiosn but I made it through, so will you. In the mean time come here when you need to vent and cry and scream we will listen.
