Guest guest
Although asked this question I'm going to response to everyone since others may have their surgery at Kaiser. I found the two-hour class very informative, and they did not sugar coat anything. One thing I had not been aware of until the class was that you may get temporary bruising on your face, neck or chest. Some photos were passed around and the bruising was pretty graphic on some of them. My instructor also explained what happned during the pre surgery appointment (testing, meeting with the anesthesiologist). She talked about vomiting and how to push it out with your tongue. She talked about nosebleeds, eating a balanced diet to stay regular. She didn't really talk about the pros and cons of surgery much. She just mentioned that a proper bite will feel better but that if you go into this surgery, you better be prepared for the recovery. She warned us about the (small) chance of a bone plate infection and what the warnings signs were. She also explained the consequences for blowing our noses or lifting heavy objects too early (swelling, nosebleed, possible injury to the incisions on the gums.) If anyone has other questions about the class, let me know. Tina

Guest guest
Maddie, Your welcome. The class is usually the week before your surgery. I had mine earlier because my original date was cancelled. Tina
