Hi --

I had my surgery (low jaw setback) on July 15th and I am still

wearing 1 rubber band around my front teeth (except for eating) to

pull my bite together too! I will be 12 weeks on Thursday. I was

totally banded (like 20-30 rubber bands) for 6 weeks and then I had 3

rubber bands for two weeks, then none for 2 days, then my OS said

that my bite was slipping so he put one (the one in front) on

September 21st and I'm still wearing it.

My issue is my bite aligning. Basically, when I wear the rubber band

in front I notice that my teeth meet more evenly and that they touch

all the way up to my front teeth but when I don't wear the rubber

band after about 1 hour or so I notice that my molars are hitting

harder and then as you go forward in my mouth my teeth hit less and

less evenly.

Lately, though I have been breaking my one rubber band because I am

continuously playing with it with my tongue and opening my mouth wide.

I also see my OS tomorrow so we'll see if he says another week or two

of the one rubber band.

I guess I shouldn't complain about 1 when I had about 25!

Hey ,

I'm 3 months post op and I'm expecting to wear bands until the day I

get my braces off. Hopefully that's within another 3-4 months..
