i just wanted to say thank you for your service in Iraq. there are many of

us who feel honored that you all are serving our country. i'm having

upper/lower/genio soon. i'd let you know about upper, but i haven't had it

yet. i think my oral surgeon is just sliding it foward to match my lower.

Glad to hear you are set for surgery also. I will keep in touch

since we are having a similar procedure in so close a timeframe. I

look forward to see how your surgery goes.

Hey Carl, is the reason your just gettin upper due to it being

recessed or for other reasons. As for me, my upper jaw is recessed

10mm but will be pulled forward 6mm and down 2mm. I feel

comfortable because my surgeon does both oral and other facial

plastic surgery so I feel comfortable with him knowing exactly the

functions of the face. He told me he could do the bottom and top

half and half but with the set up of my face, with my nose jutting

downward, by pullling the upper forward, i would have a more natural

setting nose after surgery and also the bottom jaw will not be able

to go out as far when biting and when lookin at a side profile. Let

me know what your story is....take care

I had an end-to-end bite, which is basically a minor underbite.

When I started the orthodontics the surgeon thought it would a lower-

jaw procedure. As we got closer it became more clear that it would

be upper. I don't have to come down any; it will be a strictly

forward situation, less than 10mm. I have my pre-surgery workup on

the 23rd; I will updat all after that. Hopefully since mine is

supposedly pretty textbook, recovery will be quicker. As a Soldier

I am a little concerned about that.
