Guest guest
It's rough at first but you'll be amazed at how quickly you'll adapt. A few tips to help you through these first few days: 1.) Use wax anywhere you feel a poke from a wire or any other rough spot. Wax was my best friend in the beginning. 2.) Use a mouth rinse to help with canker sores -- if you tend to get them. Nothing is worse than a wire rubbing on a canker sore! I used Peroxyl by Colgate. 3.) Advil or ibuprofen really helped me. Trust me, it will get better! > > Getting the braces on went fine. Guest guest
Try to get some sugarfee/no stick gum. Its easier to get hold of than wax for braces. When you are having trouble getting the wax to stay in a spot, sometimes a little wad of the gum will stay nicely. And also GENTLY chewing the gum sometimes makes your teeth hurt less. Maybe it works the same way teething things do for babies. > > > > Getting the braces on went fine. Guest guest
Thanks both of you. I like the idea of gently chewing a nonstick gum (how do you find no-stick gum, though?) I don't have any sore spots on the insides of my lips; it's more my jaw that aches and a few teeth are sore but mostly just the general annoyance of having this mouth full of metal. I feel like I could rip my teeth out barehanded. :-# Luna > > > > > > Getting the braces on went fine. Guest guest
Luna, I remember what it was like getting my braces on. For me it was a second time so I knew what to expect. Just remember You have the braces on and things will start moving and getting closer to your surgery date. That's what kept me motivated each month my teeth were getting straighter and straighter. Also, for me I was always sore for about two to three days and then I was fine until the next appointment. I found it helps if you don't baby the teeth just eat what you want and after a few bites no pain. Good luck and remember it will get better. -- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , str8teeth4me <no_reply@y...> wrote: > > Thanks both of you. Guest guest
Thanks, . I am feeling a little better tonight. I think you're right; I think eating dinner helped after going all day with only applesauce/yogurt/smoothee. My back teeth no longer meet so I can't really chew. I did manage to eat some solid food tonight, but I am swallowing things almost whole. I am pretty sure that the space between my two front teeth is already bigger! Is that possible in less than two days? Luna > > > > > > > > > > Getting the braces on went fine. Guest guest
I had some pretty amazing movement when my braces first went on, so I would say that seeing visible movement in only 2 days is definately possible. I think my teeth are still moving quite nicely after each adjustment, but it's harder to see. The biggest visible changes seem to happen right at the beginning. ~Jen > > > > > > > > > > > > Getting the braces on went fine.
