Guest guest
Could everybody please respond as to how many protein shakes a day you drink now? I was planning on drinking five a day which will tally up to 1,000 calories and eat about 600 cals in food. Can you lose weight consuming this much protein shake calories? Guest guest
I do at least 6 per day, sometimes more. Made with water, so not extra calories or sugar g there. I have no idea about calories or fat g or any of that. Only sugar g. Those are single digit per meal Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
My surgeon cautioned me about protein shakes. He said I could have them only as a meal replacement, not in addition to food intake. Further, he prefers I eat solid food withou drinking liquids so that the pouch will empty out at a slower rate and I will stay full longer. I do notice I get hungry more quickly after a protein shake vs. the same gm of proteim in for instance, fat free cottage cheese. I drink a protein shake in the morning anyway before I go to the gym because I hate to eat in the morning, but if I don't ingest something, I get the shakes. To each his own. Guest guest
I have 3 protein shakes a day and wish I would get more in! Send me suggestions! I am going to a new GP who follows up for the local WLS surgeon here in Buffalo. Yeah, maybe some quality care! Still anemic and low protein, JJ. > Could everybody please respond as to how many protein shakes a day you > drink > J.J. Guest guest
JJ- Oh my God, this suggestion I'm about to give to you CHANGED my life! It's amazing how the " little " things make such a BIG difference. It came from our best buddy, Ms. , aka, Vitalady. She is VERY humble and will tell you it was not her idea, but she just passes them on. Anyway -- here goes -- this suggestion UPPED my protein from 2 to 5/6 shakes a day and is SO EASY!! (Thus, the increase has significantly reduced my CARB cravings!!) SNAPPLE BOTTLES!!! I got a case of Snapple from Costco. I can't stand it, but boy was my daughter excited!!! Drink Snapple. (or, give to a 10 year old!!) Remove label. Wash in dishwasher, lid as well. Let dry VERY good (tops as well). Add your dry protein. I add 1-1/2 scoops. Set aside. Ready to shake and go. I CALL THEM " pre-loads. " When ready to use: Fill each " pre-load " with 5-6 ice cubes (if made from ice maker, oblong size ice cubes fit perfectly). Fill with water, not too cold and it dissolves better. Leave about 1-2 inches room for shakeability room. Shake, shake, shake ... shake, shake, shake (insert K.C. & The Sunshine Band here). I used to use a blender for EVERY protein drink. Thought that was the ONLY way. Got so way-tired of this, and cleaning blender after each shake, that my daily shakes slowed WAY down. This is SOOOOOOOo easy. I take a baggy of ice and a pre-load or two with me at night, upstairs, and it's there for me if I need it or get cravings. I take ice in baggy, bottled water and a pre-load on the road with me (to the store, whatever), and it's there for me. The possibilities are endless and YOU'RE GETTING YOUR PROTEIN!!!!! I get WAYYYYY over 100+ g. Whey protein daily now!! Why didn't I think of this? Guest guest
Bobbie: Thanks for bringing this up. I also have been enlightened by Queen . I feel somewhat rushed on a daily basis. But I actually enjoy taking a couple of hours at home with a book on tape on tape and preload my protein bottles and my pill keeper all at the same time. I have a large collection of Snapple bottles, plus used and washed water bottles, pop bottles, whatever I can find. Every few weeks I fill up as many as I have. I almost have enough for the whole month (At 5 shakes a day, for 30 days, that adds up to 150 shakes a month). I have even started using pint canning jars. I fill them and put them all on a shelf in my laundry room (not enough room in the kitchen). I use the glass ones for at home and the plastic for on the road. It's so easy, it seems like cheating. I don't even know where my blender is at the moment. I have also started using another VitaLady technique, called " Putting-A-Bottle-Of-Cheramino-By-The-Bed-And-Taking-It-Before-You-Get-Up " . Also known as PABOCBTBATIBYGU. I pre-measure the Cheramino and put it in empty pill bottles and slug it before I even get out of bed. It doesn't taste too great, but I don't much care about taste when I am asleep. Before I started doing this, I sometimes wouldn't get my first protein of the until afternoon. It seems that taking it early gets me on a roll and sets me up for the day. By the way, Cheramino is a liquid protein with the consistencty of thick syrup that's supposed to be cherry flavored. It's not one of the best types of protein, but if it gets my day started it's good enough for me. I use whey protein for the rest of the day. Between these two techniques I have gone from a painful 4 proteins a day to an easy 6 (I'm a distal RNY). THANKS MICHELLE!!!!!! Guest guest
I'm not that smart, ya know? I just gather data. I'd heard of the plastic water bottle thing. Then it was maybe 3 years later that someone told me about Snapple bottles (they go in the dishwasher). I'm tellin' ya, I'd never thought of it. Sigh. I know it makes a huge diff for me.
