Tigger,

I am so sorry you had a rough visit with your surgeon. I can

certainly understand the frustration. I would like to share some thing

with you. I have a dear friend that is an advocate for morbidly obese.

She has been a strong supporter of me having the surgery. At about a 15

months out, I started getting frustrated because I was no longer loosing.

She asked me if I was healthier then I was a year ago. I can honestly

say that I was. I chose to do this surgery, first and foremost, for

health reasons. I would love to weigh 135 lbs. But I am also grateful I

no longer weigh 479 lbs. I know this may not help know but it might be

something you want to consider later.

I was also wondering what your expectations of the surgery were

pre-op. Did you have a specific goal weight in mind? Were you willing

to accept less then that? The reason I ask is that I had pretty high

expectations when I had this surgery. My surgeon and insurance actually

required a psych eval. The psychiatrist asked what my expectations were.

I told him idealistically, I wanted to weigh 135 lbs., I would be

estatic to weigh 200 lbs., and I would be grateful for weighing anything

as close to normal as possible, whatever that may end up being. There

was part of me that knew I may never reach my goal weight. However, if

my goal was improved health, I could not fail. Please also realize that

you may not be finished loosing.

It may not be a bad idea to see a therapist. It may actually

help to talk to someone about the frustrations of not loosing more. It

may help to talk to someone about things like your changing body image.

It may also help to get you back on track. At least consider going to a

therapist, not because your surgeon recommended it, but because it is

best for you.

Hi Tigger,

The first thought that came to my mind is perhaps the small weight loss is

somehow related to the stomach pain you have been having? Perhaps see

another doctor?

We have already won when we believe it in our hearts.

, I've been wondering that too, but they did a scope and

everything looks fine. The Gastro Dr. did have to open up a stricture

a little, but everything else looked fine. Also, I've lost slowly

right from the beginning. As a matter of fact, I GAINED 12 lbs when i

was in the hospital having my surgery. It probably boils down to all

those years of starving myself and doing fad diets. Thanks for the

support. I haven't completely ruled out seeing another WLS doctor yet

either. One day at a time right now.

Thanks everyone for sharing. Not that I'm glad we go through all this

heartache by not getting to goal faster, but it is nice to know that

I'm not alone. You have all been so supportive. I wish the very best

to all of you. And if I finally make it under 200 pounds, you will

probably hear me screaming it from the rooftops whereever you are!
