Question about upper advancement

I had upper and lower surgery almost 11 months ago. During my pre-op

visit my surgeon gave me two surgical options. One of which would be

just to advance my lower jaw to correct my overbite. The other would

be to advance my lower and level my upper. He described it as a

LeFort 1 maxillary osteotomy to level the occlusal plane.

During this visit, I expressed my concerns about upper surgery and

the effects it might have on my nose. I explained to him that I had

Rhinoplasty years earlier and that it was perfect. He said since

they would just be leveling my upper the effects would be minimal.

With that in mind, I had both procedures. As I have posted many

times on this site, I had several complications as a result of my

upper. Deviated septum, twisted nose, large septal preforation and

more nasally sounding speech.

During my post-op appointments my doc would have no explanation and I

would always ask yeah how could all this happen, I mean you just

leveled it right and his response was yes. Many of you and other

docs have said that my complications resulted from moving my upper

forward. Recently, I got my medical records and my suspicions were

confirmed. It says that he advanced my upper by 3mm.

I am now wondering why he did this after our previous discussions. Is

there a reason he may have done this in surgery that he did not

expect? Is 3mm a lot for an upper? I have felt very frustrated and

angry this week when I read his report. I have regretted getting the

upper done and have beat myself up over my decision, but now I am

realizing I did everthing right and my surgeon did something that we

did not discuss nor did I agree to.
