Guest guest
Tigger, i have the same exact problem as you. I am a year and three months out and i weighed in at the doctors scale at 326 before surgery and today i am 258. not much because the surgeon wanted me down to 140. so, i am trying to start a diet where i eat only 2 low carb meals a day that has 7 bites only and drinking 5 protein shakes a day. i have heard several people on another list drink as many as 5 protein shakes and still lose weight, but i am waiting to here answers from this list if anyone here lost weight drinking as many as 5 protein shakes a day. my problem is, i get hungry every two hours and when i do eat, i eat way too much, so i am trying to control this by limiting my eating to about half a cup, or seven bites, because one surgeon had devised a plan called the 4-2-1 which was four bites of protein, two of veggie and one of fruit or starch, doing this three times a day. I figured since my appetite is sooo tremendous that maybe if i drank a protein shake every couple of hours maybe it will help. i understand your frustration as i am right there with you, in the same boat. i felt like a failure for quite some time now, but i got over that and now i realize i have to diet and go to the ymca every single day no matter how much i hate exercising, and i started lifting weights three times a week, doing water aerobics and walking. yes, i am lazy and i have to maaake myself do this. but my appetite is sooo ferocious that i am still looking for a way to control this animal. a couple of weeks ago, i was at my brother's house and he had this enormous birthday cake. sweets are my weakness. he cut me a very big square and i gobbled it down. and when i left, he cut 3 more huge squares and i ate those on the way home with my fingers and my husband was driving and saying...just look at you...icing all over your fingers, licking those fingers, and an icing ring around your mouth...just look at you!!! but, i had blocked him out because i was in that zone, that world of ecstacy buried deep into the pleasures of cake icing, knowing that an hour later i will probably feel lousy, but at that moment, nothing else mattered but THAT cake and how wonderful it felt eating it. i know i need to avoid sweets like the plague because they are my addiction, just like alcohol is to an alcoholic. one drink is too many and a thousand is never enough...one bite of sweets and i can't stop at that and never seem to reach my fill. my brother is also addicted to sweets, he eats them every day, but he is nice and thin and muscular and healthy. i don't know how he does this as he is 55, and, four years older than me. but i thought the protein shakes might help my hunger between meals and i am also trying to eat one protein bar before i go to bed for my sweet addiction...i don't know how long this will work or if it will but i keep trying things until i find the magic answer. Guest guest
Have you had an endoscopy to check and make sure everything is still intact and that your pouch is still small. I had mine a few weeks ago and everything was fine. My problem is still I don't have much of an appetite. Today I had a protein shake, 3 oz fish, a couple of bits of zucchini and water.... I'm so trying to get in all my water and then some (that damn constipation problem). In a little while I'm going to go scramble an egg and slice some cucumbers. Then for a snack later I will have another protein shake. If you add up the calories, it's not much. As much as I'm on this computer, you would think that I could remember to put everything into Fitday.com so I can keep track. Good luck to you sweetie and let me know how you're doing.
