Gotta say there are males who do both...lol. My boys do! I have two sons and

one daughter. From the very beginning, they have all completely closed the

toilet. I can't stand it not to be fair, so us females close the top seat as

well. And as for the trash...we all take it out!

Just for the record:

I close the lids (having been trained by more than one wooman to do

that). And, both DW and I take out the trash, depending on who sees

the need first. And, we both shovel snow. I do most of the cooking (I

am a pretty darned good cook). DW does all of the yard work (that

was the deal when we bought a free-standing house 14 years ago--I did

not want a place that required a lot of yard work; she wanted the

privacy, and she works off her stress with yard work). I do all my

own mending (sewing seams, buttons, etc.). I also do most of the

repairs around the house (electric, plumbing, calking, etc.). We

hire somebody to do the heavy housecleaning.

As a footnote: at the height of my morbid obesity, it became more and

more difficult to do even the simple things around the house. For

instance, peeling and chopping an onion kept me standing at the

counter long enough for my back to start aching to the point that I

had to sit down for relief. Now, I often cook several meals at one

standing and hardly notice it. But, having lapsed into sedentary

habits during my obese years, it takes self-retraining to become more

active around the house. With DW still working this year, and my now

being retired, I have more time to do things, so I am pushing myself

to do more--things like emptying the dishwasher and putting away the

clean dishes, a tedious task that I have always disliked.

Lifestyles evolve.
