Guest guest
Hi! I had my upper moved forward and my lower moved back because of my class 3 underbite. I had a long face too and my nose was significantly bigger after surgery. This surgery is very complicated, your face shape, lips and nose will change in appearance. I'm having asymmetry problems after surgery. My nose is bigger on one side, lips are unbalanced and my face shape is asymmetrical. I think usually in the case of a long face with an underbite,it is hard to keep it symmetrical. Both sides of the face have a different angle. You should consult your surgeon for what is best for you, although I do think a lower advancement alone would not be enough. And do remember there are many complications and risks involved. > > ok, so let me get this straight, people who move there upper jaw > forward get a bigger nose? Guest guest
Hi there, I'll be having my surgery next year sometime to correct my class III underbite. They had originnally talked about just moving my lower back, but in a recent consultation, wanted to do both. I am worried about what you were saying about symmetry. I too have a long face. I also have a small bump in my nose. This is something that I have wanted to do since I was 10 and this week I'll be 25! I've waited a long time. I know this won't change my mind, but my question is, how seriously will this change my appearance? eclectic_dream wrote: Hi! Guest guest
It's a matter of perspective. my nose was originally big(it stuck out from my face) by moving the upper forward it made it stick out less. It did however make the nares wider. for me that was a good thing cuz it was narrow to begin with and making it wider at the base also allowed me to breath better. so for me it was a remarkable improvement but as others have said if you have a flat but wide asian nose you may not want to see it wider. eric > > ok, so let me get this straight, people who move there upper jaw > forward get a bigger nose? Guest guest
I had lower jaw advancement and it made my face look longer, thinner, and it also made my nose look a bit smaller.... I wouldn't say the nose is smaller, but it appears smaller because my face has gotten a bit longer. Results vary from person to person... Good luck > > ok, so let me get this straight, people who move there upper jaw > forward get a bigger nose? Guest guest
My recommendation, for whatever it's worth: Tell your surgeon what you're worried about, and ask what he or she recommends. I would not, myself, go moving things around on the basis of the resulting look (although many people do the surgery either totally or partly for cosmetic results, and that's their business, not mine), but rather on the result the surgery would bring to my joints and bite, and the stability of the results. Just my o. Cammie > > ok, so let me get this straight, people who move there upper jaw > forward get a bigger nose? Guest guest
I had my lower jaw moved forward and my upper jaw tilted horizontally to fix a crooked bite and my nose is significantly smaller when looking at a profile of it. > > ok, so let me get this straight, people who move there upper jaw > forward get a bigger nose? Guest guest
Hi : That's exactly what happened to mine, plus it seemed to get even smaller when I had surgery 6 months later to fix my deviated septum. Do you have any pics? You can see mine on this site under photos > smile & profile. Mark > > > > ok, so let me get this straight, people who move there upper jaw > > forward get a bigger nose? Guest guest
Today is my 8 week anniversary....I invited Carole Anne, who is also on the board out for a milkshake and a heat wrap (for around our head of course) to celebrate but since she's 3,000 miles away I could totally understand why she couldn't make it...lol. Anyway, my surgeon and I talked in depth about my nose and I am happy w/the results...it's just as he said it would be.
