Guest guest
Last week I felt likt Superwoman at the gym. This week I can't see how I can possibly keep up this level of energy for the rest of my life. Yet this is normal for " skinny " people! I remind myself of my Basset Hounds. As long as they are directed in activity, they keep up. But the minute they are left to their own devices, down they plop. They will never be Labs or an Australian Shepherds, running around energetically just because it's in their nature. I dream at night about running and lifting weights and how good my body feels, but when it comes to the gym, my body just doesn't seem to be able to go where my mind wants it to. (wouldn't it be great if there was a mind-body connection that would give your body the benefits of exercise when you thought hard about it? Then you could sit and watch the exercise shows on TV and get skinny!) But like Steve says, bit by bit. There's a device at the gym where you hang with your arms at a 90 degree angle supporting the full weight of the body, and you are supposed to draw your legs up into a reverse sit up (knees to chest). I could do one last week. I can do 2 this week. Not much at all, but I'm using it as a source of amusement...I couldn't even hang and support my body weight a few months ago. BTW, how in the heck did Oprah go from being so fat to running a marathon in 6 months? Regardless of the chef and trainer, she must have one heck of a good gene pool! Finally, my lower back is really starting to hurt when I walk. The feed sack on my abdomen is hanging lower now, plus I'm more actice and the pulling across the back is so painful! I do back and stomach exercises to try to strengthen the area, but I have a feeling it will only be relieved by ps, which is at least 9 months away. What a drag. Oh well, document, document, document...maybe this will help me get coverage for the ps. No rashes. Anything else that will sway things my way with the insurance co.? Guest guest
That is a great machine. I do two sets of twenty bringing my knees up to one side and then the other. If you want a real challenge....try bringing your legs straight up (don't bend your knees) I'm still working on that.
