Guest guest
I Live in Northern Va outside of D.C. has anyone had surgery in this area that can recommend an OS. I've meet with one OS who is studying my records and molds, I'm getting a weird vibe when i meet with him and his staff. Don't know if its just my nerves or something more. I would like to get a second opinion once he and my ortho decided my treatment plan.

Guest guest
This is just me -- but I would not want a surgeon from whom I got " a weird vibe. " I think this surgery is trying enough that you need someone in whom you can have faith, trust and confidence. That may be silly and foolish, but it's how I'd feel. Guest guest
Hi: I also live in Northern Virginia. My OS is going to be Dr. Delgado in andria, Virginia. He is highly recommended not only by my OD, but also by my endodontist Dr. Bernier. (Dr. Bernier and I are good friends, so I know he would only refer me to the best) Dr. Delgado has extracted a tooth of mine a few years back and I was very impressed not only him, but his staff also. His office is located on Eisenhower Ave. in andria. Who is your OS? I can check with Dr. Bernier to see if he would recommend him. He is familar with all the surgeon's in the area. My OD is Dr. Binzer who is also in andria, VA. My OD will be doing molds at my next appointment before sending me to the OS. I am expecting my surgery to be around January or February. > > I Live in Northern Va outside of D.C. has anyone had surgery in this > area that can recommend an OS. Guest guest
Mike: Yes, I will ask him and let you know as soon as I can. Do you know what you are having done? I do agree with Cammie in that if you are already having weird vibes, then I would highly recommend you getting a second opinion. In any case, I will get back to you as soon as I can. > > > > I Live in Northern Va outside of D.C. has anyone had surgery in > this > > area that can recommend an OS. Guest guest
I appreciate you doing this for me, I'm not exactly sure of the term, but it involved moving back the lower jaw and possibly the upper one forward through incisions in the mouth. Sorry if I'm not sounding to technical I recently started researching this. Thanks again, Mike Re: Can anyone recommend an OS Mike: Yes, I will ask him and let you know as soon as I can. Guest guest
Don't feel bad, because at this point I have no idea either. The way the OD explained it to me is that my upper jaw will be detached from the skull and repositioned. Yes, pretty scary, but I told him to explain it to me so I would understand. As they say, be careful what you ask for. Have a great night and I will talk to you soon. > > > > > > I Live in Northern Va outside of D.C. has anyone had surgery in > > this > > > area that can recommend an OS. Guest guest
Hello, I live in Charlottesville, VA and my oral surgeon is Dr. Hoard at UVA. He is great and I highly recommend him. If you don't mind traveling, you might consider coming to meet him for a second opinion. I had surgery (upper only for open bite) on October 14 (one week down today!) and I'm extremely happy with my surgical experience as well as my recovery so far. If you would like any more information you can email me. Good luck with your decision. Maggie > > I Live in Northern Va outside of D.C. has anyone had surgery in this > area that can recommend an OS. Guest guest
-- Thanks for the response, the OS I have been meeting with is Dr.Cantor from Northern Virginia Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Associates in ndale. My OD is Dr. Garai in Vienna, I havnt had the braces put on yet. Everything is still in the early stages. Could you send more info on your OS, I would appreciate if you would mention Dr. Cantor to him and see what he thinks. He was recommended by my OD who told me he has 30yrs experience as an OS and that he was the head of a Maxillofacial Surgery team at GW hosiptal in D.C., but he seems short with me like he dosnt have time to answer my questions, and his staff is sometimes rude. I dont want to worry about all this post OP; you know. Does your OS take carefirst bcbs? I know the Eisnhower area i lived in andria a few years back. I also dont know any technical terms or what the exact name of the surgery i need but I will in the near future. I posted some pics you, can see how much I need braces and this surgery. My dentist said I have a class III underbite. What the pics dont show is difficultly I have eating and my speach. Do you have your braces yet? Thanks for the message and the info. Guest guest
Mahdee: Here is the response I received from Dr. Bernier regarding Dr. Pell: Yes, Jim Pell practice with Drs. Whiston and before Dr. Cochran came on the scene. Dr. Pell is very capable…even extracted our 's wisdom teeth…and has a son who graduated a year before ph at MCV. Dr. Pell went on to join a practice in andria (close to Sear) with a couple of brothers who were likewise Oral Surgeons. I've since lost track of him. I hope this information helps you, and I will ask him about Dr. Cantor as soon as possible. I have been in braces for 19 months. At first my OD thought that I would just need SARPE to widen my upper palate, but then decided against that because he felt that there would be a possibility of the teeth shifting back after the braces came off, even with the retainer. He feels that maxillary advancement would work the best. I did find out today for you that Dr. Delgado doesn't participate with Care First, but will file the claims for you for reimbursement. He does work out of Reston and Arlington hospitals. I like you have Care First, so I wasn't happy hearing that news, but he is so highly recommended by my friend Dr. Bernier, that I will still more than likely stay with him. Since this is major surgery, the insurance stated that they will still pick up the majority of the bill. Dr. Delgado's office even stated that they will write a letter to the insurance company stating the urgent need for the surgery to make sure it is covered. Anyway, I hope this information helps you. Thanks for the pics, I can't wait to see your after pics!! My teeth are very straight right now, it's just my jaws do not line up properly. My midline is off by quite a bit. I like you have difficulty eating because the majority of my teeth don't touch. Also when I close my mouth I bite down on my tongue...OUCH...I will get back to you soon!! Take Care, > > > > > > > > > > I Live in Northern Va outside of D.C. has anyone had > > surgery in > > > > this > > > > > area that can recommend an OS. Guest guest
-- Thank you for the info it helped out alot, it sucks that Dr. Delgado dosnt take carefirst. There is no way I can afford to pay for the surgery up front. I've had a hard enough time getting the 5200 hundred together for my future braces. Maybe I'll just consult him for a second opinion after I get my treatment plan. My OD told me i would have to wear braces for 18months, seems like a long time but its not compared to a lifetime of teeth and mouth problems. I hope everything goes will with your upcoming surgery. I'll keep you up to date with all the happenings with the doctors. Guest guest
Yes, you are correct in that it really sucks that Dr. Delgado doesn't accept Care First. Maybe I can talk Dr. Bernier into talking with Dr. Delgado to see if something can be worked out. Dr. Bernier is an endodontist and has referred many patients to Dr. Delgado including myself when he extracted a tooth of mine. So we will see. The 18 months will go by quickly. I was also told that I would be in braces for 18 months, but as you can see I am already over that. It will be more than likely a total of about 28 months before it is all said and done. I am sure once the surgery is complete, I will have about another 6 months to go. Right now the OD put chains on the back teeth which is hurting like heck. He is trying to turn one last tooth around before releasing me to the OS. Anyway, keep me posted and I wish you the best of luck!! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I Live in Northern Va outside of D.C. has anyone had > > > > surgery in > > > > > > this > > > > > > > area that can recommend an OS.
