Guest guest
Good reply. so now a second part to my question....what is dumping on fats consist of? You mentioned bloating, diarrhea.....anything else? I don't think I have ever dumped on fats, but who knows? Maybe I just haven't recognized it as that. I don't eat a LOT of fats anyway. I have had reactions to like say ...ice cream at times. But I attributed that to the lactose. I got gas, cramping, bloating, felt really really yucky. I could eat a little bit and not feel bad, but if too much, then ...yuck! Could that be dumping on fats? It is true that we do not absorb fat very well. I for one, run to the bathroom over certain fats. Not to mention the horrible bloating that I'd prefer not to deal with. It is true though, we need a certain amount of fat in our diet. Saturated or unsaturated...help me guys. My surgeon and others in the diet world have told me 30 grams of fat a day. It is an important part of anyone's daily needs. We, as WLS individuals, cannot digest the bad fats. I'm not sure how much we actually get of the good fats. For me, some fats give me no problems, so I'm guessing some must digest...somewhere in my common limb...I'm distal. There is no science for me. After almost 10 yrs (May 17th) I know what I can and can't eat. I will tell you that my cholesteral is very low but not below the normal range. Bad fats are bad for " normal " people as it makes for great health risks. As for us...it makes us miserable. Part of our tool. Dawn

Fats (not all) make me feel like I will be sick right away. Lactose (not all dairy) is extremely painful digesting for me. Other than those two, they are very much alike. This is me though. Guest guest
When I dump on fats it has to be alot, and it just kills my stomach <run to the bathroom> kinda thing..I went to the show today with my son, had some heavily buttered popcorn and within minutes was running to the bathroom! It wasn't pretty lol Fat gets me more then sugar does now. As a side note a few years before I had WLS surgery I went on a very low fat (under 10-15 grams a fat per day), high carb diet and lost TONS of weight within a short period of time (quit and gained it all back + more of course). So for me it wasn't the sugar making me fat it was allll that fat I was eating. Dawn
