Hi there,

I'm micky, a new member. I'm already in orthodontics for surgery

sometime in february next year for a class III (and a half as my

ortho likes to joke) malocclusion. My OS either wants to do a

isolated VRO, or a maxillary advance with a genioplasty as I have a

very flat maxilla and one heck of a chin. I sort of think that it

might be better to do both jaws as there is a problem with both. I

also have TMD with pain and difficuty chewing sometimes as well as

headaches. I've posted pics in the photo ablum under Micky class 3,

if any of ya'll have any ideas or words of wisdom I'd really

appreciate it.

Thanks,

Micky

Welcome Micky!

Hey, your pics remind me of me a little: I too had Class III, but I

also had a tilted and flat maxilla, PLUS I have slightly bulging eyes

from a (supposedly) thyroid infection. Anyway, what I had done on

Sept 20 was the mandibular setback, then the maxilla was leveled,

plus he added my own bone tissue to my cheeks, not to make them

bigger per se, but to add to my maxilla and to make my eyes look less

prominent. The reason I decided to do both upper and lower is because

I did not want to go back to the OS for a 2nd surgery. I think each

patient is given choices; you know yourself and what you want better

than anyone, and it is important to get the result that best suits

you in terms of longterm health, function and aesthetics.

I'm no expert but that is my $.02 worth!
