Guest guest
Congratulations on such a great weight loss so far. Yes, it is very normal to forget to eat but unfortunately in time that will all come back when you start having somewhat of an appetite. I forgot alot at first and thought it was great, my friend used to ask me " DID you eat today " And I had forgotten, but now my little tummy gives me gently reminders. I am not having a starving feeling but I do know when, I do think it is more in my head though than my belly. I wish you continued success . ROBIN, NEW YORK AGE-41 OPEN RNY OCT. 18TH, 2002 DR. Guest guest
Congrats on your weight loss...wow...awesome! My dr. always told me not to force myself to eat and yes, I think it is normal to forget to eat. Not eating all day is not good from what I understand. For myself I have found that the days when i don't eat enough I don't lose any weight, but everyone is different. I have lost 84 pounds since my surgery on 9/29/03, and am now in the hair loss phase. I have always made protein my " go to " food, and more so now. I find that on the days when I am not hungry it is generally b/c I am really thirsty and drinking a lot of water. I have to remind myself to stop drinking or I will never get hungry and that is not good for my body. I always shoot for at least 2 meals and a snack. From reading so many posts, I see a lot of comments about protein and weight loss and how important it is to feed your body. You have to eat. Are you drinking protein drinks? hannah > hello i wanted to let everyone know that i can finaly get on a reg > scale.... well i brought one yesterday and OMG i am now 280lbs i can > not belive it i had to get on it like 4 times to make sure i was not > seeing things...well i was at Sam's culd and i got on the scale and > it said 280 lb and i thought it was lieing to me lmao but it is real > and i have to say i am loving it to the fullest............. well > November 4,2003 i had the surgery and from that day on i really never > eat and i think that is why i am losing it so fast......... well i > weighted 450 the day i went into surgery..... Guest guest
Wow, what amazing progress. Am I doing the math right? 170 pounds in a little under three months? I'm a pre-op, so I can only answer from what I have read, but I think that from what the " books " say, you need to eat to get the minimum nutrition your body needs even if you are not hungry. Amazing, no...I mean having to be reminded to eat! Best of luck to you. Guest guest
Merdine First congrats on an astounding weight loss. Keep it going!!! Yes it is normal to not want to eat and to forget to eat. I do it often myself. When there is no hunger you just don't think about it. However you do need to eat!!! You weight loss will stall and stop altogether if you do not eat. Work on the protein if nothing else. Try to get at least 55-60 grams of protein in per day. If you can get it in two meals great!!! But that needs to be the barest minimum!! Good Luck you Loser YOU!!!!! Candi Yahooooooo!!!!!! i have 4 questions..plz help me hello i wanted to let everyone know that i can finaly get on a reg scale.... well i brought one yesterday and OMG i am now 280lbs i can not belive it i had to get on it like 4 times to make sure i was not seeing things...well i was at Sam's culd and i got on the scale and it said 280 lb and i thought it was lieing to me lmao but it is real and i have to say i am loving it to the fullest............. well November 4,2003 i had the surgery and from that day on i really never eat and i think that is why i am losing it so fast......... well i weighted 450 the day i went into surgery..... Guest guest
Merdine, I have always heard that when your car runs out of gas, what do you do? You put fuel in. Our bodies are the same way. When our bodies run out of fuel, it shut's down or quits. Guest guest
Um.....weight loss will slow down from NOT getting enough protein in every day...if you're not drinking protein drinks or eating at least 60-70 oz. of protein per day, you're not getting enough and I'm surprised that the weight is coming off ....... Guest guest
This is a " it depends " situation. For patients who are further out in the cycle post-op, protein shakes CAN lead to slowing weight loss because you consume high calorie liquids which leave you hungrier faster. My surgeon's office will advise you to stop protein supplements (liquid ones) if you are 6 months post-op and having trouble with hunger and weight loss plateaus. Then you are challenged with the struggle to meet your protein goals through solid protein supplements (e.g., bars), Proteinex (UGH UGH UGH GROSSSSS) and foods. My surgeon ALWAYS encourgages early post-ops to do liquid protein supplements. I think the information she got was misrepresented. --- wrote: > Um.....weight loss will slow down from NOT > getting enough protein in > every day...if you're not drinking protein > drinks or eating at least > 60-70 oz. of protein per day, you're not > getting enough and I'm > surprised that the weight is coming off ....... > > T. > Lap RNY 6/20/03 > 432/281/170 > Houston, Dr. Adam Naaman > Visit my homepage at > http://users3.ev1.net/~leeds/ > > " I will find my way, I can go the distance. > I'll be there someday if I > can be strong, I know every mile will be worth > my while, I would go most > anywhere to fell like I belong.
