Guest guest
All this talk about comfort foods, and funny things we ate growing up poor.. We had our share too, I remember getting home from kindergarten when I lived with my grandma in Ark, and I would eat a ketchup and mayo sandwhich.. We lived on ramen noodles when I was a teenager.. and a few times even had cereal with water.. YUCK! I loved it during the summer when I would get to go see my Grandma who lived in CA I thought she was RICH! Every single night we would have a piece of watermelon, she bought me hawaian bread *mmmmm*.. and in the morning she would make me coffee grandma style, lots of milk and sugar, with a little coffee.. probably why I still like coffee as a comfort food, to destress me! Only 8 weeks till summer starts again, and my boys and I will be off to CA to visit my grandma, she is now 94 years old, still in really good shape, except for macular degeneration.. I can't wait for summer!!! ~~Chandra

Guest guest
Ketchup and mayo sandwiches, hmmm. Sounds like what we use to call nothing sandwiches. My uncles use to fix it as teenagers when there was no " meat " in the house. Theirs was usually an avocado, sliced onions, sliced tomatoes, and mayo. It was not unusual for my sisters and I to do nothing sandwiches without the avocado (by then they were expensive) and any other veggies we could find like cucumbers. My parents were part of a vegetable coop. We always had fruits and vegetables. Lori Owen - Denton, Texas CHF 4/14/01 479 lbs. SRVG 7/16/01 401 lbs.
