Guest guest
Had my first visit with an orthodontist on Wedsenday and found out that I am open to orthognathic surgery. Not sure if my insurance will cover it as of yet, but I am confident that I shall have the surgery done. Very excited. I don't think the orthodontist has had anyone actually so excited for braces and surgery before. Haha. I'm just happy knowing that a lot of problems and pains I've gone through in my life because of my teeth and jaw alignment shall be corrected. I've done a lot of research before hand about orthognathic surgerey and had wondered if I were a canidate for it (now I know). How did any of you feel when you first found out about requiring to wear braces and have surgery done? I think I feel confident enough to post some " before " pics (going to be a while until I can post some " after " pics. Truly can not wait. The results I've seen are amazing!). Guest guest
How did I feel. Oh dear! I managed to get through the preliminary appointment with the ortho, at which he told me I needed surgery -- but just barely. I dissolved in tears in his parking lot. I was 55 years old, and had worn braces as a child. When I first saw the surgeon, a couple of months later, my blood pressure was 200 over something... Does that tell you anything? I told him I wasn't surprised, because I was terrified. But as I learned more, I became less frightened of the whole thing. I won't try to tell you I wasn't nervous the night before surgery, but I was no longer in that state of panic.
