My girlfriend had orthognathic surgery (double jaw/ chin) 8 weeks

ago.

she is having trouble with the following things:

1. Can't move jaw laterally

2. Trouble with anterior posterior jaw movement.

3. Is having trouble with excessive saliva dripping out of mouth.

She is concerned, any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,

BD

in my experience lateral movement was the last thing to come back. I

was at about 12 before I could even move my jaw laterally even

slightly. I am 15 weeks now and can move it easily but I still do not

have full range of motion. That will come with time I expect.

Your girlfriend needs to be talking with her surgeon about the

movement troubles. It does happen, and there are some therapeutic

things, like exercises, that may help, if she is ready to have the

treatment. Her surgeon will know whether she is, or whether exercises

would be more harm than help at this point.

The dribbling droolies often accompany these procedures. best

solutions for them I have heard are have a Kleenex or a small towel

with you at all times. They usually do go away, so don't despair!
