Guest guest
Hi family, I have recently had a bout with divriticulitis and was taking two different prescriptions...Cipro 500 mg and Metronidazole 500 mg/generic for Flagyl...and then had horrible diarrhea for 5 days. I am just now starting to feel better...I see the Dr. tomorrow and I was wondering if it is the medicine causing me the problem??? I won't even go into what else I had to buy for a very sore and painful bottom. The pain in my side has not gone away and I think he may want me to take another dose of something and I am concerned. Guest guest
EWWWWWWW I have to tell you Cipro makes me soooooo sick. Nauseated, butt rash!!!! I have no idea about the other medicine, but Cipro knocks me on my " butt " for a week when I have to take it. Mostly I sleep and feel like crap. My doc ends up prescribing something for nausea. Tell him about the symptoms you have while taking the meds. And if you doubt him at all, GET A SECOND OPINION! Cipro absolutely gives me horrendous diarrhea. If you need to stay on antibiotics, see if he can switch you to something else. Kate

Guest guest
, I was on intravenous and oral antibiotics for fourteen months follwing my RNY. My doctor told me that just as the antibiotics kill the bad microrganisms, they can also kill the good ones. The good ones live in our intestinal tract and help us process the food we consume as well as keep some of the potentially harmful microrganisms from overpopulating and causing us harm. Diarrhea is one of the outcomes of removing or decreasing the good microrganisms in the intestinal tract. That's why my doctor recommended that I eat yogurt once a day to reintroduce more of the good microrganisms back into my sytem. I did that and even took it a step further by taking a daily supplement called FloraLife which combines three or four additional beneficial microrganisms in a dry, capsule form. Between that and the daily yogurt, I quickly solved the diarrhea problem. Hope this info helps.
