Guest guest
Good Morning All Just a quick intro on myself. I had my LAP RNY WLS 03/27/02. Despite two pretty serious postop complications that required two additional surgeries, (one just three weeks postop on 04/19/02, and the other more recently on 03/09/03), I definitely have a lot to be thankful for since WLS. I have lost 131 pounds to date, going from 265 to 134. My BMI started at 45.5 and today it is 23.0. I spent most of the 6 months just prior to WLS using a nebulizer 4 times a day because of my severe asthma (in fact, my WLS surgery was postponed for six weeks because I was in respiratory distress.) I haven't used my nebulizer in almost a year ~ and I doubt I've used my regular inhalers more than half a dozen times. I now walk 3 miles in 45 minutes anywhere from 4 to 6 times a week (okay, since this last surgery 2-1/2 weeks ago, I'm only doing 1.5 miles again, but I'm getting back there!). I no longer have GERD/reflux, ankle swelling, joint pain or heel spurs. (Though I now have a sagging panni and have had to get some really supportive bras!) I'm very thankful to my family and the many, many friends I've met on this incredible journey who have supported me. Despite the complications, the big question is: Would I do it again? YOU BET! What a difference a year makes! Sandy Boca Raton, FL postop ~ 03/27/02 265/
