Guest guest
Hi.. I am 1 year post op. I had upper and lower surgery. I got probably about 8 screws in several places and will stay there permanently. Up to now.... I have a little bit numbness on left chin and when I smile .. it looks a bit asymmetris. Upper gum area also still feel slightly numb still... But I dont worry too much. With that such big surgery we should expect some side effects as my OS warned me. Hang in there and hopefully you will lose most of the numbness eventually. > > Hi, > Is it normal to be 9 weeks post op and still have no feeling in the > right side of my lip and chin following lower jaw advancement 6.5 > mm? Guest guest
I am 4 months post-op from upper and lower for an underbite. I still cannot feel part of my chin on the lower right side. Sometimes I get jabs of pain and some tingling sensations so I am confident that it will come back eventually. I have recovered about 98% of feeling in my face otherwise. This is the a time when the saying " patience is a virtue " is really true. All any of us can do is wait and see how our bodies react to this kind of surgery. Guest guest
I am sorry to hear your feeling is still not completely back. I am almost 4 weeks post-op for an underbite and my chin and right side are the only places that are numb right now also. I was curious to know when your swelling went down and you felt like your appearance was " normal " again? I am still swollen and do not feel normal yet. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and I hope your feeling will be restored soon. Take care!

Guest guest
I'm not sure what's normal or not normal, but it took 8-9 YEARS to get the almost all of my feeling back, and I still have lip incompetence and a pretty poor side profile.... please view my pics in " bad post op profile " . I'm headed for a second genioplasty in the near future. > > Hi, > Is it normal to be 9 weeks post op and still have no feeling in the > right side of my lip and chin following lower jaw advancement 6.5 > mm? Probably was about 5 weeks that I started to look more normal and felt normal again. But, with the numbness in my lip, I still don't feel like I smile or talk normally yet at 9 weeks. The numbness makes it feel like it is still swollen, but I dont' think it is. You should start to feel alot better in a week or two. Thanks.
