Guest guest
My swallowing issue is not as severe as yours has been. I am 4 weeks out and swallowing is an issue mostly at night. My chin, lower lip, and right cheek are still numb. I had upper and lower surgery. I am glad to hear you are coming off of your I.V. That is great news! You will definitely be a tolerant person after going through this tough period of time. Not that you aren't now but you know what I mean. Did your doctor say what was causing the swallowing problems? My doctor told me they scratched my uvula when inserting the tubes down my throat. He also said they throat gets bruised from all of the tubes being inserted. Take care and I am sure things will get better for you still.

Guest guest
Ellyn, I will keep you in my prayers. It is good news that you are getting the IV out. Hopefully soon you will be able to eat some food. I had some swelling after the operation which has since gone away but it was hard to swallow. I used a syringe to get clear liquids into my mouth. This is all I could do for a few days, but at least it was some type of food. The liquid actually made my throat feel better. God bless you. Take care. > > greetings! > > i'm 2 weeks post-op from having hardware removed on a lower jaw > advancement. my lower lip and chin are still somewhat numb and i > don't yet have full movement of lip. i, too, feel like it looks > strange when i speak. it's dificult to keep my mouth shut, since > the inside is still swollen. > > the worst part for me is that i am only now beginning to be able to > swallow after 4 months! i've been fed intravenously with Total > Parental Nutrition all this time. because of my neuromuscular > disease, this is much more complicated. good news today... looks > like i'm getting the iv out! > > let me know if anyone can speak to the numbness or swallowing. keep > me in your prayers... i need to eat! > > blessings, ellyn
