I think he must have had a very healthy immune system, much better then the average! Today is a different story, people do not have the same immune systems as they did in previous years as we have so many added chemicals in our foods, the animals are loaded with growth hormones... YES we take that in when we drink the milk or eat the beef, (unless organic) our air in many places is compromised, plastics, remote controls, battery operated items, cell phones, computers, etc... all are changing our environment and adding a long list of health issues with people from young children to adults. Sad, but true! Just look at TV for 10 minutes and all you see is pharma ads for every drug under the sun that gets rid of anything Well said! It is funny how we don't hardly ever see commercials for tooth paste or rice, cookies or any of the commercials we saw as a kid. That is because pharma is in 100% control and it is not cost effective for the food chain to advertise their product. They can not afford it, as they have been pushed out by the pharmas, and so what is left is " drug sales " ! This is why you also do not see many TV related topics on autism, or PDD as the commercials in between these shows pay for what is to be aired... get the picture? On an aside, the drug companies are going to take control of vitamin use... you will need to have a script for it in the future. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
My pediatrician surprised me this year. After years of poo pooing my concern about vaccinations, suddenly this year, he told me that I needed to get blood work down on my typically developing 8th grader and my special needs 9 year old to see if they have enough immunity against chicken pox to mean that the vaccination is not required. That really surprised me coming from someone who had no problem with thermisol. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

Guest guest
It is not an easy decision, and there are good arguments made by both sides of the debate. What I like about this list is that usually posters respect each other's viewpoints and learn from each other. I am an attorney, yet if posters made claims against attorneys, I might disagree (probably would agree for the most part), but I would never not respect someone's position on an issue. Thank you to the parents who have posted some really good points that give others a lot to ponder. I guess I asked a stupid question about when to expect the bad stuff to happen. I suppose unless there is a huge regression, I may never know if he was adversely affected. I just wondered if the effects are immediate or not. Aggie Re: [ ] Re: OT/EMERGENCY ALERT: Great Danger Lurking in Flu... Guest guest
Liz, you are asking a lot of good questions, I wish I could answer. I too think this thread has rised some good debate on the issues which should be encouraged. I just know that after my son had the flu mist (not the shot), I later discovered that there was a higher risk of actually getting the flu, when administered the mist (you just breathe it) in contrast to the shot. That's one of the most interesting things-- (your above statement) The Pharmaceutical companies outright say that the flu shot is CONTRA-INDICATED for pregnant women, and yet, all of the OB's around here always push and recommend that their OB patients get the flu shot. It's one of the most frustrating things for me, I must admit! I am newly pregnant, and will NOT be receiving the flu shot (or any other one, actually). I wouldn't even get them if I WASN'T pregnant-- I just see too many negatives with these shots, and wouldn't take the risk Becky ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

Most of the complications that would occur are all very easily preventable and an adult who is caring for the child can easily see them coming and can take measures to prevent the complications. The serious side effects of the vaccine, however, cannot be taken back and cannot be lessened once they happen. I truly feel it's much better to take the " risk " of handling the possible contraction of the flu, the possible complications OF the flu, and all that comes with that, compared to the dangers of the vaccines themselves. JMHO of course Becky ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

This is why you also do not see many TV related topics on autism, or PDD as the commercials in between these shows pay for what is to be aired... get the picture? I will NEVER forget one of the ER episodes that I was watching several years ago. It was on one of the childhood diseases-- I forget whether it was the Chicken pox, but most likely was the MMR. The child they were working on had the disease and of COURSE was dying-- (how else can they make their point and use scare tactics except through television??) The ER Dr (actor) working on the child found out that the parents chose not to vaccinate their children, and the family was made out to sound like a bunch of moronic idiots that found out information on the internet. They basically made that family out to look like uneducated you know whats. (Which bothered me GREATLY) So in the middle of the scene, the Dr looks STRAIGHT into the camera and makes this pronouncement about the child's condition and the child possibly DYING as a result of non-vaccinating due to this horrible disease, and then <CUT> end of the scene-- and <CUT> to a commercial. Anyone want to take a guess as to what the commercial was about???? If you guessed the EXACT VACCINE THAT WOULD PREVENT THAT DISEASE-- you guessed RIGHT! LOL It was one of THE most blatant and outright disgusting display of Big Pharma and the money behind the tv shows, etc. It was so obvious that it made me laugh-- but then I got so upset because there are MILLIONS of people who are uneducated and they watch the tv show and get their information from that, and most likely they listened and got the vaccine. Very sad to think that could happen-- but it happens ALL THE TIME Becky ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

Your father in law, dying at the ripe old age of 92, I would make a HUGE wager on the fact that he had a very strong and functioning immune system and that naturally he was a healthier person (overall) than the majority of people out there. The fact that he got the flu shot for 20 yrs and could handle that amount of toxins in his system tells me a lot right there. If they are okay then do LOTS and LOTS of Epsom Salts baths, 3 times a week, just like is recommended for kids on the spectrum I already know that hot baths are " out " according to my OB. The water is too hot and rises the temperature of the body which rises the temp for the baby as well. So can't do the baths now (unless it's 98 degrees which we know won't happen) bek ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
