Guest guest
Initially, I was very excited when the Gardisal vaccine was developed. I have had many friends who had precancerous lesions due to HPV and I have had them myself between my first and second pregnancies. The PAP smear proved effective in detection for all of us and then of course, one has to undergo cryotherapy (which is not really much of a procedure) to freeze the cells and kill them. If it is contracted and not detected until later, you then have to have them burned off. You are then monitored for a couple of years and have PAP smears every six months to ensure that the irregular cells do not reappear. Luckily, this is a very slow growing infection. The doctors feel that I actually contracted during the birth of my first child? Not sure about that one but.... Of course, if one does not have regular PAP smears, there is a very real danger that the cells can pass into stage 4 or 5 and become true cervical cancer. So.... it truly is essential that our girls understand the importance of regular PAP smears as HPV is everywhere. I think they estimate that an extremely high number of men are natural carriers (ie. something like 80%.... a crazy number to be sure). I was definately going to have my girl vaccinated with this until I started to read. This vaccine is not proving to be completely safe and even the physicians are coming out against it. There are documented instances where young ladies are actually passing out after having been vaccinated on the way home in the car! So, while the 'idea' of a vaccination against HPV is fantastic; I am definately not going to use my child as a guinea pig for the rest of society. I am not sold that this vaccine is safe. I worry that the 'testing' of this vaccine has not been strigent enough to ensure the safety of our girls. Janice [sPAM] Re: [ ] Re: OT/EMERGENCY ALERT: Great Danger Lurking in Flu... This year, our pediatrician also mentioned the vaccine for cervical cancer. I know other moms have said they are waiting on this one, but wondering if anyone has had the vaccine. carolyn ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
hi, i also watched that particular er episode also. i live in NH. However the disease they were talking about was not the mmr or chickenpox it was something else much worse because i can not remembe rthe exact disiease it was . but it required the whole entire er staff to be quarentined. it was a disease i remember correctly the child got from some type of exposure to it over seas somehow. tbniesh@... wrote: In a message dated 10/27/2007 11:48:34 A.M. That is because pharma is in 100% control and it is not cost effective for the food chain to advertise their product. They can not afford it, as they have been pushed out by the pharmas, and so what is left is " drug sales " ! This is why you also do not see many TV related topics on autism, or PDD as the commercials in between these shows pay for what is to be aired... get the picture? I will NEVER forget one of the ER episodes that I was watching several years ago. It was on one of the childhood diseases-- I forget whether it was the Chicken pox, but most likely was the MMR. The child they were working on had the disease and of COURSE was dying-- (how else can they make their point and use scare tactics except through television??) The ER Dr (actor) working on the child found out that the parents chose not to vaccinate their children, and the family was made out to sound like a bunch of moronic idiots that found out information on the internet. They basically made that family out to look like uneducated you know whats. (Which bothered me GREATLY) So in the middle of the scene, the Dr looks STRAIGHT into the camera and makes this pronouncement about the child's condition and the child possibly DYING as a result of non-vaccinating due to this horrible disease, and then <CUT> end of the scene-- and <CUT> to a commercial. Anyone want to take a guess as to what the commercial was about???? If you guessed the EXACT VACCINE THAT WOULD PREVENT THAT DISEASE-- you guessed RIGHT! LOL It was one of THE most blatant and outright disgusting display of Big Pharma and the money behind the tv shows, etc. It was so obvious that it made me laugh-- but then I got so upset because there are MILLIONS of people who are uneducated and they watch the tv show and get their information from that, and most likely they listened and got the vaccine. Very sad to think that could happen-- but it happens ALL THE TIME Becky ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
Hi again everyone, Just to let you all know this. i am not for or against vaccinating our children. I believe in all of you on this board and support all our efforts in trying to help all our children who all in varying degrees suffer from the same things svere speech disorders of some type. I phrase it this way as to not step on anyones toes here. We all have the same things in common here trying to do what is best for our children as a whole. Keep in mind I personally chose to fully immunize my child but for different reasons than many would think. I chose to due so cause I came so very close to my son dying at birth when my son was born that I decided I would do everything possible to keep him alive. I think I am actually one of the lucky parents when I think of my son and his problems. I still have my son alive today and for that I am greatful. My son does not have autism (been checked and evaluated many times) . He does however I admit have some things on the spectrum though. Yes I am choosing to give him a Flu shot only due to his asthma. However i am not getting one myself though. I asked for a mercury free vaccine and will make sure before iot is given to ask to see the package and the bottle it came in and ask tons of questions before the shot is given and before I sign permission for it. aigjr@... wrote: good anologies Janice! I would be interested because my niece may be getting it soon. Thanks, Carolyn I know that one of them mentioned that it would give people a " false sense of security " , and that it wasn't protection against cervical cancer, and he did NOT like how it was being marketed as such. It's supposed to help prevent the VIRUS that *could* cause cervical cancer, not cervical cancer itself. That seemed to really bother him that people don't seem to know the difference, and he felt that it would give women a feeling as though they would be " safe " and that there were no guarantees that it would ever prevent cervical cancer. That was the younger Dr. The Senior Partner was adamant against it (oddly enough he is also HIGHLY against the HEP B shot given to infants, and feels that it should only be given to those who are older. BUT-- I remember him pushing the Rotavirus vaccine on me and I declined. He later admitted to me that I was right to go on my gut with that one, and they ceased giving that one due to the many problems connected with that .- then the vaccine was pulled) I believe that his concern was that it was a new vaccine and there are always serious concerns when you're introducing a new vaccine. He has always felt a little hesitant about new ones until there are a few years behind it with a few years also showing him personally if people have bad reactions etc. I do know that he mentioned the same as the first Dr. (the way it's being marketed and also feeling that some girls/women will feel as though it even gives them more sexual freedoms if they think they are " safe " , and that would open them up to OTHER problems in addition to the HPV) and I know that he mentioned that he has heard of several adverse reactions to this vaccine, and he personally would NOT give it to his teen daughter. THAT alone told me something right there. He is PRO-vaccination, so keep that in mind, and he said outright that he would NOT give this one to his daughter. If I heard nothing else about this particular vaccine, hearing that comment alone would give me just cause to not give it to my own children, since he's been in practice for many many years hope that helps-- bek ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
Thanks Becky. Your doctors seem to make sense. I often ask a doctor that question.. " What would you do if this were your child? " They can just give us their opinions, but when I put the question to them like that, I often get a new outlook on matters. Carolyn I know that when they WON'T give it to their own kids-- that's a tell-tale sign. I remember though, he DID push that Rotavirus one at me, which I mentioned, and he was totally in agreement to giving that to his own children, and it was a pretty bad vaccine on a whole. so it's a toss up sometimes-- but if they say they definitely won't give it -- that's a definite for me Becky ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
Becky, totally agree with you! There have been times when surgeries or other medical procedures were being discussed with me by various doctors for my daughter, and often they will say of course the decision is up to you..that's when I ask what they would do if this were their child. I remember one ENT who said he would NOT do the procedure if this were his child. So, I appreciated his honesty and it ended up being the right decision.Carolyn ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
Hi everyone, A flu question....I am sorry if this was brought up already, but... how about the flu mist???? I just got off the phone with Kaiser...they do not have the thimerosol free injection (Ben had that last year). They now only offer the mist which is also thimerosol free, recommended for the 2-5 year group. I don't know what to do! Boulder county already has reported 1 case this year which is earlier than normal...just 4 years ago we had the highest mortality rate (I think) in the country. I am preparing for the worst. Guest guest
All I can tell you about flu mist is this.... It is thimerasol free. Until recently is wasn't approved for kids as young as 2. They had a hard time getting the FDA to approve it for kids that young because of production problems in their plants. There was a high contamination level (contaminated with bacteria) in the samples tested. The company made corrections, FDA tested again. It took more than a few rounds for the FDA to approve it for kids that young. Now... that approval was not given because of the contamination on the production line, not because of concerns with the vaccine itself, VAERS reports/reactions, etc. If you want your child to get the injection but get the thimerasol free form do the following.... check your local health department and see if they have the individual doses in stock. Since the health departments are in charge of vaccinating the infants and the infants have to have the individual doses, they are pretty much a " sure bet " . You'll have to speak to one of the nursing staff, the receptionists will only know that they do or don't have vaccines. or go to another facility and pay out of pocket for the vaccine as it seems Kaiser has decided that they will not cover any thimerasol free flu vaccines in your area. (And I'm shocked by this because just 2 years ago most private insurance plans would not cover any flumist because the shot is much cheaper. Kaiser and Cigna were the worst offenders!). Regarding the flu mist for a very young child.... I know the FDA says it is safe, effective, etc. And besides the contamination reports I don't have concerns about it. But it is often very hard to correctly administer that silly thing to a cooperative 6 year old. Heaven help the poor nurse who has to try to administer that to an uncooperative 2 year old. Heaven. Help. Them!!!!! If flu mist isn't administered correctly it isn't as effective. So..... I'm not sure it is worth the wrestling match. I know if I wanted Grace to receive that thing (and she's 3.5 years) I have absolutely zero chance of that happening. There is no way I'd ever get that thing shot up her nose. No way whatsoever!
