I agree Ray, I am a proximal rny and NEVER needed shakes. I chose to

use them in replace of a snack for a few yrs but don't use them now.

My protein levels have always been in the normal range. My surgeon

does not push shakes at all, she stresses real food, 6 meals a day,

protein first. I have not used shakes for the last 6 months but do

eat alot of animal protein. My labs again for the 18th time are

perfect (I get em every 6 months and this is my 9 yr post op visit).

all I can say is you guys are lucky. I'm a very short proximal as well and

without at least 60mg. of supplemented protein daily my protein levels drop

off big time.

it is amazing that they can do the same procedure but we all respond so

differently.
