Guest guest
Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm soooo glad I found this group because I need all support and encouragement I can get. I'm 5 years post op. I had an open rny, started at 375 and lost quickly and consistently for 11 months. I got down to 220...and then stopped losing. My body just wouldn't shed anymore weight and I did all the " right " things. I was so happy and healthy at 220 that I accepted that I wold never reach my goal (150lbs.) Plus I loved the way I looked...I had virtually no problems with excess skin and I didn't look like I was 200plus. I guess I got too complacent and I know I reverted to my old eating habits. I maintained the 220 for three years and then the weight started coming back. A month ago, I was shocked to see that I'd actually regained 50lbs! Shock...horror...humiliation...disgust with myself....I felt all those things. A few weeks ago I got serious and started the Atkins diet. The first 10 days were pure torture....detoxing myself. But, I did it! Now the cravings (for sweets and salty snacks) are almost totally gone and I'm back to basics... lots of protein and very few carbs...only 20 grams a day at this stage. I feel great and I've lost 8 pounds. Now I just have to dust to off the old treadmill and get back to working out again. I'd love to hear from others who might have had the same experience....regaining a significant amount of weight and losing it....again. I'd appreciate any advice/tips/support I can get. Honestly.....I think I just need to hear that it really can happen....

Guest guest
Well, I haven't had the experience of regaining any significant amount ....I have rebounded as they call it 10 lb. It is extremely fearful. Your post really encouraged me though.......I think you are on the right track!! I had the same experience with that illusive " goal. " My goal was 110 (I'm 5'2 " ) would have been ecstatic at 130-140, but at 9 months post-op the weight stopped at 162 (I am up to 172). I am also now trying again to get down!! P. It just sneeks up on you...... > Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm soooo glad I found this group > because I need all support and encouragement I can get. I'm 5 years > post op.
