Guest guest
Hi all.. I had upper and lower on OCt 5th, and got my splint removed last week, so I'm finally able to talk and sort of eat. However, I notice that the more I talk, the tighter my face feels. People tell me my right side of my face looks more swollen, and it's especially noticable in my right cheek. So, how much longer should I expect the swelling? Anything I can do to make it less noticable? Or lessen the swelling anyway? It's really throwing off my new face!!! :-) Thanks a lot! -Blake

Guest guest
It could take a month or it could take a year. everyone is different. I am almost 5 monhs post-op and I still have a very samll amount of swelling in my cheeks on either side of my nose. It does not bother me. Its almost fun. I got carded for the first time in over 10 years the other night because of it (I am 36). everyone says it takes a full year to get completely back to normal. Guest guest
I had surgery in June and I think all of my swelling subsided maybe after about 4 months. This surgery sure teaches you to be patient! I didn't use anything in particular to make it go away, but there are homeopatic remedies (arnica) that seem to help a lot of people. Guest guest
I really haven't had problems with swelling since the splint comes out. Drink A LOT of water which will help your body flush toxins out and I found ice packs a couple times during the day especially in the morning to really help. you could also call your doctor and see what they reccomand. Also taking like anti-infmatory a couple times of day helped me a lot as well.(like Ibprofun) > > > > Hi all.. > > > > I had upper and lower on OCt 5th, and got my splint removed last > > week, so I'm finally able to talk and sort of eat. > > > > However, I notice that the more I talk, the tighter my face feels. > > People tell me my right side of my face looks more swollen, and it's > > especially noticable in my right cheek. > > > > So, how much longer should I expect the swelling?
