Guest guest
Just got back from my 2-year follow-up with the surgeon. Labs are very good, Vit A a bit too high. Hubby's labs were also good. Now a couple questions about hernias. Hubby has one up high. Doc said he'll fix it and removal of excess skin would be covered by insurance, though Greg has very, very little excess skin. He does not look like he was ever overweight. I go in a couple of hours later. I'm joking because I gurgle when I bend over. He presses down on my stomach and is quite taken aback at the noisy activity. Says it's my hernia. I've been very upset because my stomach has become quite large the last couple of months. In fact right now it's pushing up into my chest like when I was pregnant. He said this is from the hernia and I need to get it taken care of pretty quickly. BUT, because of the location of my hernia, in the midst of all the flab, he said insurance probably will not cover the skin removal. He says my guts are coming out, so hernia repair is not a problem, but the skin removal may be!!!!! On one hand I'm really disappointed at the prospect of not getting a tummy tuck, but on the other hand I am so relieved that this stomach is not because I have failed which I was sure it was! And get this -- I've been complaining about black, tarry stools which is one of the main reasons I went to see him -- totally forgot to mention it! If anyone has had any experience with this type of hernia repaired with a tummy tuck, excuse me, reconstructive surgery, please let me know. Thanks. in Akron
