Guest guest
Pre op (RNY 11/00) the acid reflux was almost unbearable. When I had the RNY the surgeon also repaired a huge hiatal hernia. He said over half of my stomach was in my chest. The reflux was gone completely for almost 4 months. When it started back it was like hunger pangs that would not go away. It was diagnosed as kidney stones complications---then the blood started. I was in the hospital for 2 months after that. I ruptured an artery in my stomach and a very bad H.Pilori infection, along with the ulcers. Now I take Prevacid twice a day and very seldom get reflux. All of that to say if you do suspect reflux, be diligent with letting your surgeon know the symptoms. Bleeding ulcers are not a pretty picture.
