Guest guest
Personally I would not be ok with not having met the surgeon. Is something set up for you to meet him soon? Like before surgery? I can't imagine going in to surgery having never met my surgeon. I could not do it. What if you meet him the morning of surgery and you just don't trust him? Bottom line is what are you willing to put up with? I guess it depends on how badly you want the surgery and what risks you are willing to take. For me...that would be too much risk. I could not do it. Candi I'm freak'n out over here!!!!!!! My surgery is in 12 days and i'm freaking out! everything has gone wrong since day one. i STILL haven't met my surgeon! every time i go see him they say he stepped out and i see his assistant or an intern! Cleveland Clinic in Florida has been a nightmare! i've re-done all my tests twice because they lose my paperwork. they call me and tell me that i need to meet with some dr. i tell them i already met with that dr. last week. they say " sorry didn't know " i keep thinking everything is a sign not to go through with it. they told me i can't be sick two weeks prior to surgery, well guess what i'm sick! is that another sign? i've been through hell with my job for the time off. i've been through hell with the hospital. i keep calling the hospital to ask questions and they NEVER return my calls! what should i do? after seven months of this crap should i cancell my surgery. it's only 12 days away. or should i just go through with it? i haven't slept in days worrying about this. Guest guest
DO NOT under any circumstances have this surgery with THIS DOCTOR. Find another doctor quick. The surgery is risky anyway and there are doctors out there who are quacks! Not many, you just don't want that one quack for this surgery. Sounds like the entire staff is incompetant! Run! Guest guest
I agree it does'nt seem like they are on top of things do you know how many surgeries this Dr has preformed .Is there any one that you know who had this Dr for surgery.I know that you want this and getting so far with your journey it is hard to say no but before you put your life in the hands of a surgeon that you have'nt met Do some reshearch because it is better safe than sorry.I wish you all the best in you journey.PS: call your PCP and tell him your concerns see if he can recommend you to another surgeon.Good luck you are in my prayers LOL Wasia Lap RNY 12-17-03 Dr, Waldrep 304/269/??? > > My surgery is in 12 days and i'm freaking out! everything has gone > wrong > > since day one. > > i STILL haven't met my surgeon! every time i go see him they say he > stepped > > out and i see his assistant or an intern! Guest guest
There is no way I would have surgery performed by a doc who isn't personally invested in my case. When I joined the obesity program at my local hospital, the surgeon was the first one I met and we had a long conversation about surgery. We met two more times before surgery, too. I'm also worried about what kind of follow up care you will get from this doctor after surgery. I would definitely find someone else. It may take longer, but you will probably be very happy you waited. Best of luck, 11/18/03 284/249 preop/202/?

Guest guest
1st, i've met the 2 kind caring compassionate brilliant surgeons out of the cc in weston, fl. the last monday of the month is their support group, & a friend who had her wls there invites me to attend (for the past year). dr rosenthal & /or dr szomstein have been present every single month, available to every & anyone. 2nd, i can't speak for the staff. 3rd, the docs are in demand, their patients worship 'em. 4th, i believe they train other surgeons. find out everything u can, but there's no need to " throw out the baby w/ the bath water " . email me if u have any further ?s. lori h. 21 grateful months post-op PS i've met about a dozen surgeons in s fl, btw. > My surgery is in 12 days and i'm freaking out! everything has gone wrong > since day one. > i STILL haven't met my surgeon! every time i go see him they say he stepped > out and i see his assistant or an intern! Guest guest
It sounds to me as if the surgeon and the staff are very unreliable... i had problems with the staff not returning my calls in the very beginning of my process, but that is mostly because this procedure has gotten very big in my town and they were a bit overwhelmed...I would hold up on the process if it was me...it is very important to know and to trust your surgeon, and without ever having meeting him, that is just not a good sign...my surgeon is very respected and trusted in my town and i met him before i met anyone else...i would do a lot of soul searching about this... Guest guest
I'm sorry ur having so much trouble. It seems to me that Cleveland Clinic in Florida needs to step their game up a whole lot. I don't think it's a sign that u should not go through with the surgery, maybe it's a sign that you need a dedicated surgeon. Good Luck honey, I'll pray for u Ayanna open rnY 12-08-03 349/ 308/ ?
