Guest guest
Yet again, your docs can help you best with these issues. I am not even sure about what you mean by " jaw angle. " There are procedures to change the " cant, " meaning the tilt. Procedures to rotate the jaws. Procedures to move either jaw forward, downward, upward, backward. Ask your surgeon. As for the bands -- my surgeon installed them, eventually, to " give the jaw some support " and relieve my jaw pain, which they did in 15 minutes! Others have spoken of " training the muscles " to learn where they have to function. Others have told patients about immobilizing jaws to let them heal. Ask your own specialists. They will, in my experience anyhow, be happy to explain things to you. Guest guest
The elastics are to keep your jaw in place and allow it to heal and the muscles to adjust to the new position Its nothing big and I found I liked them because it made things feel more stable. > > > > Hi everyone - > > > > I just wanted to know if anyone who had lower surgery had any > > significant change in jaw angle - I've been looking at my teeth > and > > the only way I can see it working is if they change the angle. > > > > also what are the bands for that i have to have on after??? > > > > thanks > > > > > > Greg

Guest guest
I won't have the surgery (lower adv) for another year, but I have been told that they will not only move my lower jaw forward, they will also tilt the back of the jaw forward. Before I got braces on a month ago, my back teeth met fine, but my front teeth had a deep overbite. So the tilting is necessary to achieve a good bite. They say this will lengthen my face and fix my overexaggerated chin bump (both of which are a good thing). Guest guest
Does anyone know if this could be used to make the face wider? I ask because my surgeon said that although i need my lower jaw moved back, he could make the break right at the jaw angle, far back, and then position it to give me a wider face as well as correcting my overbite. This isnt something Ive heard of before, and when I asked about it a few months ago, I didnt get any responses.
