Guest guest
I had lower advancement and a genioplasty ten years ago. I had fairly significant lip incompetence prior to the surgery and unfortunately still have some afterwards. My OS at the time said that he could have remedied that had he moved the upper jaw as well, but he thought the overall result would be good with just the lower advancement alone. I have always been disappointed about the result in terms of the lip incompetence. The other issue is the chin correction, my case was really, really severe compared to almost anything I've ever heard anyone speak of, so even with a 5mm jaw advance and a 5mm genioplasty I was still 10mm or more short. I'm having a " sliding drawer " maximum advancement genioplasty on Dec 1 which should give me the chin projection I've dreamed of having for nearly 30 years since I was a young child and first noticed the severity of my profile discrepancy. I've been told that this may improve my lip incompetence a little, but short of having my upper jaw raised, which would then make my upper teeth hardly show when I smile, the lip incompetence is probably just something I'm stuck with. However, you're probably nowhere as severe of case as mine was and I'd expect you'll see really good results. > > > To all the vets on board hope you can help me. Guest guest
You aren't asking the right folks. ASK YOUR ORTHO AND YOUR SURGEON!!! That's important. Some folks would tell you yes. Some would tell you no. ASK YOUR DOCS! And happy Thanksgiving to you, too -- with lots of cranberries on top! Best hopes for your satisfaction, C. > > > To all the vets on board hope you can help me.
