Guest guest
She can eat pureed foods (no sugar added). IF she can make it the consistency of apple sauce she can likely eat it. Here are some of the things I was able to eat: Skim Milk Carnation Sugar Free Instant Breakfast Fruit Juice (No sugar added brands-I also cut them half and half with water) applesauce (no sugar added) Canned soup (strained) or broth Sugar free drinks (Crystal Light, Kool Aid) Sugar Free Pudding Sugar Free Jello Sugar Free Yogurt Instant Mashed Potatoes W Gravy Cream of Wheat Oatmeal You can also puree canned fruits and vegs (no sugar added on the fruits) and cottage chesse. I was told you could puree chicken and such but the way it looked all pureed just turned my stomach. The pain lasts different for everyone. Some people come home from the hospital not needing the pain meds and others (myself) were in pain for 4-5 weeks after surgery). I was able to start walking immediately after surgery (actually t was highly encouraged). Even if it was only 5-10 minutes at a go. The more she can do the better. But more strenuous exercise (weights, stomach crunches...things of that nature) she should seek advice from her own doctor. Mine said 10 weeks before I did any ab work work but you will get as many different answers as we all had doctors. Hope this helps a little. Try to encourage her to join us. She will find a lot of help here and we are all in the same boat. If you need more help just let us know. Candi Have Questions. Hi all! This site is a wealth of information, really glad I found it. I am doing some research for a friend of mine who had gastric bypass surgery about 1 week ago. She really seems to be doing great except for a few minor problems - I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me. 1. She is only on a liqued diet for now (she is starving) lol - anyway, when she is able to eat do any of you have examples of things that will be easy on her tummy??? Maybe things she shouldn't eat? Any ideas.............. 2. She is having pain still in her stomach - we are assuming from the healing of the pouch. They have prescribed pain medicine - does anyone know how long the pain will last? The pain is fine as long as she is on the pain medicine. 3. How long after surgery does it take to start excerising? She is so worried about skin - but does not want to hurt herself. For now I think that will do it. Her doctor is extremely hard to get a hold off - thats why I am asking questions here! LOL Any help would be greatly appreciated.
