Guest guest
I have alot of jaw pain too on both sides plus popping on the left side everytime I open my mouth plus headaches. It is like a constant ache and I feel like my face is being pulled toward my ears, this stretching feeling. My ortho says it is from my bite being off now too in preparing for surgery. I've tried aspirin, ibuprofin, motrin, nothing works. I hope it will go away someday too. I am 32. > > I currently have daily discomfort in the muscles on the left and > right side of my jaw. Guest guest
The pain sucks...I know. It's constant discomfort. Anyway, did your ortho think braces/surgery would fix the problem? Is your pain more TMJ related or just overworked facial muscles? -nate

Guest guest
My surgeon said the surgery may not cure the constant popping in my jaw, I've had that a long time but it was never this bad and this frequent. I wasn't happy when he said that. Every time I open and chew it pops and it hurts so much more. As for the constant facial pain, jaw pain I don't know but it has really increased in the last few months (since the ortho put on these activator power chain things to make 2mm space in between my canines which I know have and now I have surgical wires on) that space that was created on each side I know has caused me this more intense pain, stretching feeling. I assume this should go away once the teeth are where they are supposed to be b/c I know I am having a very hard time chewing food now, getting it small enough to swallow and when I chew and look in the mirror I notice that I am chewing like sideways which I know is hurting my jaw too. I just heard from my surgeon who said my models look good and I am probably ready for surgery, he wants to talk to my ortho first and of course she wasn't in the office today. The waiting as to whether I am ready is killing me, I want to know. My ortho told me I was ready and that is why she put on the surgical wires on 11/12. I hope they speak to each other tomorrow so I can get this surgery scheduled and over with. > > The pain sucks...I know. It's constant discomfort. Guest guest
Before my surgery my jaws popped loudly and sometimes when I chewed, but always when I opened my mouth wide. I did not expect my surgery to correct this as it was not my main goal, nor did I ever discuss it with my surgeon, but guess what? No more popping! It was a bonus for me, but perhaps it will give you hope. Pam > > > > The pain sucks...I know. It's constant discomfort. Anyway, did > your > > ortho think braces/surgery would fix the problem? Guest guest
Before surgery I also had popping and clicking in my jaw joints, and lots of muscle pain in my face and jaw from clenching. Surgery did actually relieve a lot of my face pain because I do not clench nearly as bad as I did before and there is also no more popping or clicking! The only let-down is I have less range of motion and cannot open my mouth wider than 2 fingers width. There is pressure and some pain when I try to open my mouth wide in my right jaw joint, and it doesn't seem like it will open any wider with time. But overall, I am pleased with the outcome and definitely have less pain and frustration than I did before. > > > > > > The pain sucks...I know. It's constant discomfort. Guest guest
I had surgery Oct 26 for that reason. I used to think the headaches were from not getting enough coffee until coffee didn't do the trick. I am hoping I no longer have earaches and headaches. Medicine never worked for me. I would just have to lay in bed and grin and bear it. It really stunk! The OS says my headaches and earaches should go away and actually I have not had one since surgery.
