Guest guest
I was so afraid of ending up with no hair. .. I kept eating and drinking protein.. Didn't happend I didn't loose any hair. Thanks God. It usually happens to people that are not careful with the diet. You need to take your proteins and viatamins. I'm trying to recall the extra vitamin I took.. If I can find the bottle somewhere in my room, I'll posted.. Oh, Oh, BIOTIN??? or BIOCTIN...It really works.... try it. Just go to a discount store, they should have it... The Gastric bypass surgeon told me about it. -- In Gastric_Bypass_Family , " Pat Keller " <pbkeller@b...> wrote: > I have a class reunion coming up May 8, 5 months post-op. Guest guest
I was really careful with what I ate and drank---still am for that matter, but at 8 months out, the hair is still falling out and it started at 2 months. It's tapered off quite a bit but still coming out. Thank goodness I have really thick hair and it hasn't been noticeable. T. Guest guest
Does anyone KNOW if anesthia can caus hair loss? I am 12 weeks post op and am shedding way more hair then normal. Its nothing I am concerned about, nothing is causing like baldness and I have really thick hair but its like whenever I shampoo my hands come out covered with stray strands and this has never happened before. I feel like my cats when they shed!

Guest guest
It seems like I read something about this a few weeks ago in this group. The explanation was that the anesthesia puts you in such a state of relaxation that it temporarily affects hair growth causing hair loss. The excessive shedding should subside, and the loss isn't permanent. I someone else should have a better explanation for this, but I'm just recalling off the top of my head what I read here recently. > > Does anyone KNOW if anesthia can caus hair loss? Guest guest
Oh man, I remember when my hair first starting falling out (about 3 months post-op). I had thick hair too and it was coming out by the fistfuls. The good news is...it does stop eventually. I'm a little over 8 months post-op and my hair is still coming out but not in fistfuls. I still " shed " and have hair on my shirts at the end of the day and on my jacket but thankfully it has subsided. Thankfully I had a ton of hair before. Not so much now but no where being bald. Just not so thick anymore. There are various things people will tell you to do and I didn't notice any of them helped but they are... Up your protein intake Take biotin A vitamin that vitalady sells called skin, hair, nails Nothing worked for me. My sister who is 4 years post-op now did the same thing (lost a lot of hair) but it does grow back. Hang in there! Losing hair is a small price to pay for the surgery. Guest guest
Hi All, Okay, now I am worried because I have very thin hair and I had experienced some hair loss when I was anemic previously. I am better now but it still takes time for my hair to grow back. Is this going to be a problem for my thin hair? Has anyone else, who has thin hair experienced the hair loss? Guest guest
Maridiana, I don't have thick hair and my hair has always been relatively thin on top. I chalked that up to always wearing a part in the middle of my head and being pulled back into pony tails. While my hair did thin more on top but not balding. I think the trade off is more to me than worrying about the think hair as it will grow back. I mean, I am black and black people don't wash their hair everyday because it is naturally dry..more dryer than other nationalities. I have heard people say to use biotin. There is a shampoo and conditioner that cancer patients use to grow their hair back and it works really well. It is called Nioxin and you can get it at salons. It is pricy but I must tell you that this is just a part of it and I have not really noticed that much of a difference since using the Nioxin as I don't wash my hair everyday. Using it everyday, one might notice a difference. Please try not to worry as there are other things you can do like..for instance, wear wigs. I did this anyway as a means to have different styles, cuts, colors without doing all the changes/damages to my own hair. I hope that helps.
