Surgery in Japan

Hello all. I had lower jaw advancement surgery on Nov.5th in Japan.

I was required to stay in the hospital for 8 days (standard is 10-14

days in Japan) which was covered by insurance. I am banded shut

with a splint but I can remove bands and splint to " eat " blended

food. Tomorrow the splint comes out for good and I guess I'll still

be banded. This whole experience has been very interesting -

especially because it took place in a foreign country (I'm from

America). I've found that everyone here has been incredibly kind and

helpful. I'm doing very well despite the spasming jaw muscles,

constant up/down energy levels and craving different foods. My only

complaint is crying at the drop of a hat. I get frustrated easily

and anything can set me off. I think that I read on this website

about the anesthesia causing depression so maybe that's what's from.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Anyway, I've read this website for months now and want to thank

everyone for their willingness to share their experiences, give

advice and lend shoulders to cry on. Best luck to everyone.
