Guest guest
No question is ever really stupid. Questions show you have an active mind and that you care to learn. Flax (not flex) seed has many benefits. It contains essential fatty acids and a lot of fiber. We need both. Here are a couple of excerpts from articles I've read: Excerpt: (Alpha Linolenic Acid) Seeds of Good Health ( M. Lark, M.D.) The seeds of young flax stalks, carefully milled in the traditional way --without high heat or chemicals-- are tiny but complete pharmacies. About 30% of the flaxseed is oil, mostly linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid. These essential fatty acids cannot be made by the body and they provide moisture, softness, and smoothness to the skin, vagina, bladder, and hair. The seed also has a natural estrogenic effect**, causing beneficial effects on menopausal symptoms. Flaxseed has many times more lignans than other plants, and improves the estrogen-to-progesterone ratio of your body in mid-life and beyond. It has also been proven in many studies to lower blood cholesterol and triglycerides. Add to this that it is a potent source of soluble fiber, *** and you can see why there is just one simple thing I wish you would do: sprinkle two tablespoons of milled flaxseed on your cereal every morning. It's tasty--and it will keep you away from drugs for many more years. --------------------------- from Dr. Weil's online newsletter: For thinning hair, take 2 TBS fresh ground (grind weekly) flax seeds (keep whole seeds in frig), (or Fortified Flax Powder by Omega-Life) plus 500mg GLA 2x/day in either black currant or eveng primrose oil. Shud see a diff in 6-8 wks. Carol A ---------------------------------- >OKay by now you all must know im on the slow train here. What is Flex > > >seed and what is it used for? Cod liver oil from anyplace can be " iffy " due to the mercury and contaminants issues. Why add 2 things when u can safely get the same benefits from just one (ground flaxseed meal)? I do put that in my shakes and besides thickening, I love the flavor it adds. You can grind the seeds yourself or buy them already ground for a few cents more. Whatever u get needs 2b kept in the refrigerator. Carol A

Guest guest
The cod liver oil from Norway addresses the metals problem,,,,,,,and also addresses my needs to reduce tryglycerides (now 69) and all blood lipids (well, the bad ones :-)), and psyllium husks do wonders for me,,,,,and is one of the few things one can do safely long term,,,,,,but I do not want to even do that past time time I need it during iron supplementation.
