Guest guest
I had my upper palate expanded 10 days ago. Here's what it involved for me, as I understand it, they reach up between your teeth and lips- --WAAAAAY up---and cut in and cut the palate into pieces and spread it apart. They do not cut all the way through to your mouth. The surgeon thought before surgery that he would use donor bone to stabilize the spread, but it turns out he did not. They work in your sinuses, so post-op, you are swollen and even at day 10, I have some blood in the mucus of my nose. My surgeon did tight stitches there so that my nose would not flare out, so it's a little uncomfortable still, but at day 10, I am really doing very well. I'm 47. I also had my lower jaw brought forward and a genioplasty. You'll do great, try not to worry. ---Kathleen > > Hi all ~ maybe some of you remember me?!?=) I was a regular on here > a couple months ago before my surgery got postponed. Guest guest
ive had a septoplasty to improve my breathing while i didnt have it with jaw surgery i had it when i got my tonsils removed, the septoplasty really wasnt bad at all tonsils were no fun but septo was fine, my breathing improved somewhat nothing special but it is better, your nose is obviously sensitve to touch but other than that its not bad, the worse part about it for me was when they took the splints out of your nose, i dunno how your doc is doing it but i had these plastic clear splints stitched in for 5 days, and when they pulled out the splints it wasnt terrible just really uncomfortable, dried snot blood etc can get real hard after a while but youll be fine i wouldnt worry about that part of ur surgery at all, good luck with ur stuff my jaw surgery is in july so...im a ways off lemme know yours goes
