Guest guest
Hi Molly, I've never heard that general rule before about jaw opening. Just don't force things, listen to your surgeon about what type of exercises to do and when. At 8 weeks post-op, talking shouldn't be a problem (unless you've been wired for that length of time, if so, your muscles will just be getting used to moving in that new position). I found talking tiring even at 6 weeks post-op, and learned to be more efficient in how I phrased things. All depends on how much you're having done (I had upper/lower/genio). Just don't expect too much, you may not be back to full energy levels or able to eat a lot of hard or crunchy things. A steak, for example, may take a looooong time to eat, but if you cut it into teensy pieces, not so long. Lazing around and letting the body heal while you feed it good nutritious food is not a bad idea. Hope that helps, > > Hi all- > Just trying to get a better sense of this whole recovery process. Guest guest
Molly, I am 19 days post op and am talking fine. It still feeling a little strange talking because I still have swelling in my lips and checks, but other than that everyone can understand me. > > Hi all- > Just trying to get a better sense of this whole recovery process.
