Tara,

It truly is a shame that this happens on a sight that is suppose

to help support all wls people. I am one of those that believes in

research, research, research before you make your decision. I truly

don't care what surgery someone has decided to have as long as they have

done the research and know the pros and cons of the surgery.

I am on a sight through my surgeons' office. These surgeons

have done mostly the vbg but have also done some bypass. I don't know

how many times people have gotten on this site to bash one surgery or the

other. They quote statistics that are completely biased one way or the

other. There have also been tons of discussions about how easy this

surgery is and that they will never gain any weight back because they are

dedicated. They believe that all they have to do is have the surgery and

the rest of their life is a piece of cake (sorry for the pun). Some have

also gone so far as to doubt the decision they made about the surgery

they have already had.

Now the reason I bring this up is that I have referred people to

this site more for educational purposes then anything. As much as I try

to explain about the pros and cons of the surgeries, about the work it

takes to succeed, etc they just don't quite get it. Somehow when they

come to this site and start reading, they finally get it.

I have also noticed that I really don't know most of the time who

has had what surgery on this site. I don't really care most of the time

unless it would affect the answer to a question (ie do they malabsorb or

not.) We are all on the same boat, facing a lot of the same issues,

struggling with a lot of the same concerns. I would hope that is what

comes across on this board more then the RNY does this or that and the

VBG does this or that.

No problem . I always love hearing from you. Atleast we know we

are all on the same page. Sure is nice to have that reassurance. Lori
