Guest guest
I had lower/genio on Oct 22nd. I recently went back to the surgeon because the swelling increased again, and he ended up putting me back under and draining an infection on my right side. He said that there's a good chance the swelling is just going to go right back up again, and if I can hold off for 3 months he'll remove the metal plates. Anyone have this problem? Why would the plates would be the cause of the swelling, and will removing them make the swelling stop? Thanks! Lea

Guest guest
I actually insisted to remove them after I heal (havent done it yet). Why keep them in there since he gives your option to remove them? It is not your bone, it is foreign substance. I asked for resorbable screws/plates (they dissolve in 9 months) but he doesn recommedn them. He simply said in 5 months post op I can remove them. > Lea, > About 12 years ago, when I had upper and lower surgery, I had to have > all the plates and screw removed several months later.
