You look great. I'm glad everything went well for you. I am about

3 1/2 weeks post op and everything is going well, just ready for the

swelling to be gone.

Thanks , I remember thinking that the swelling would never go

away! But it does, it just takes patience... Good luck on your

recovery.

Hi Nathalie. I have posted once and lurking mostly. I am still

considering the procedure, but mine will SARPE first, braces for 12

months, then lower jaw surgery finally. I get the courage then I

chicken out again. I must say, your pictures are a great testament

of how great the results can be. I think your smile is fantastic!

It gives me courage to move forward. Thanks for posting them.

Hi Kim, thanks for the compliments. Don't let the big gap between my

teeth scare you (SARPE). It's mostly to do with attitude, people I

knew at work etc. knew I had gone through surgery and even though I

got some funny looks at times when I had that gap, I had just decided

I really didn't care what anyone thought. Looking back, it's all gone

so incredibly fast, it's just a stage you have to get through but

like I said: if you remain positive you'll get through it easily. Who

knows, if you go ahead with it, your ortho might give you a " fake

tooth " to put in that gap. Mine didn't because he said that it would

all close up so quickly, it would make no sense. I can't advise you

if you should or shouldn't do the surgery. Put your pro's and con's

objectively on paper and then make your decision (and do not look

back). I have no regrets, but it helps not to have high expectations

about the way you will look because it will always come out

differently. Even I (very happy with results) had to get used to my

new face and it's been posted here before, it's like saying goodbye

to your old face. I loved my old face too you know, I just love my

new face a little bit better (we're still getting to know each

other :)!

LOL! The gap and swelling won't bother me. I know that those are

only temporary. Besides, it will be a great conversation piece and

will be fun for a laugh or two (if I have the energy to laugh). I

understand that it will be rather strange with a new face, but

that's why we all go thru all this, right? My concern is how long I

will be " unavailable " . I am a mom of two kids (I'm 38). They

require a lot of my time and I am worried that my energy level will

not be up to the job. My hubby will take a week off work, but will

that be enough? I also am self-employed and really love what I do. I

can't imagine not working for two weeks. I can't imagine not

exercising for 3 months. I can't imagine not eating solid foods for

a week. So many things to give up in the name of beauty (not to

mention the $6000 I could spend on something alot more fun)!

I don't have any kids so I can't really say how it would affect them.

But I have to say that it will make a difference that you're doing the

SARPE and lower advancement seperately. The SARPE is not such a big

procedure compared to upper/lower jaw surgery. And also, the lower

surgery is said not be as " heavy " as upper. But hey everyone's

different, what might be a piece of cake for anyone else could be

something completely different for you (and vice versa). I felt good

enough to work again after 2,5 weeks. Good luck with your decision!
