I'm not crazy about Ensure, I think Boost is better (my doctor said

more of his patients preferred it; it's not as chalky.) They have

many flavors. I like the Chocolate Mocha best, but I think I

remember you saying you didn't care for chocolate. My mom has

blended fruit into the vanilla ones and they are pretty good too.The

doc also said I could try some runny mashed potatoes and soups and

stuff, but to be real honest, my tongue is too numb. I get choked

on just about everything because I can't tell where it's at in my

mouth. Are you having the same problem?

thanks!

Having exactly the same problems. Coping better with Ensure 9a

little) esp after I reclassified it as a medecine rather than a food.

Best-tasting medecine (I HATE the iron supplement) versus worst

food....

I am going to try Boost. I have the blender in full use but I need to

have everything VERY liquid to get down. I had pea soup yesterday and

had to rnse instantly as i could feel it clogging.

How are you doing with speech Casey? Also, I have developed an

allergy around the mouth to something (doc thinks it's vaseline)

which is making the lips swell even more. My skin is very red and

sore and that it not helping me get my mouth open.

Have some sleep tonite.

Hey Dani and ,

Well, I made it through! School is over for the semester, finally,

and I can totally focus on healing!

My visit with the OS went well yesterday. He seemed pleased with my

healing thus far. Although the visit was a little painful. Some

feeling is returning to my face, so the stitches all the way around

my upper jaw between my jaw and my lip/face are starting to really

hurt. So poking and prodding and stretching hurt some, not terrible,

but not pleasant either. He changed the bands I had. I had bands in I

didn't even know I had! As it turns out I have 8 bands and a splint

that is wired to my upper teeth. I got to see the x-rays too. It is

pretty cool to see all the plates and screws and wires and such.

Makes me thankful for the numbness I still have, as all that hardware

just looks painful!

Unfortunately though, I'm still on a liquid only diet, and not

allowed to remove the bands at any time. I was hoping to be able to

remove them to at least brush my teeth or even to be able to use a

spoon to eat, but no luck there yet. Perhaps next week :) I'll keep

hoping! The good news is he gave me a prescription for Ambien to help

me get a good night of sleep for a change. Although he suggested I

try 2 tsp of hydrocodone before bed for a night before trying the

ambien, as it can be habit forming.

So last night, after a long day of school (I was out of the house for

nearly 12 hours) I felt like crap. My head was pounding, and I was so

hungry. So I blended up some 's Chunky soup (cheddar, baked

potato, bacon or something like that) with some milk to thin it

down...drank a lot of that, then took the hydrocodone, as suggested.

But I was just so worn out from school, and from having not slept,

and then the food and med combination totally put me out. I felt so

sick! It was awful.

But, more good news! I went to bed at midnight, and slept until

10am!!!!! I have given up on trying to sleep upright. I figure if I

get congested while sleeping upright, I might as well sleep in all my

favorite positions and get congested. And my doc said it's ok to

sleep on my stomach or my side, that it won't hurt anything. So I

went for it, and it was great! I woke up about 3 times throughout the

night, but was able to get back to sleep pretty easily each time.

Thank goodness for that, I so much needed the good night of sleep! I

feel much better today. Although, I also appear to be more bruised

today than any day prior. But, I think my lips are less swollen, as

it seems to be getting easier to control them to drink and such. So,

the good and the bad...but I think I'm making progress.

That's my story. Hope you are doing well!

Thanks .

I see my Orthodontist and my OS today so will post later on how

things are going with me.

Good to hear you so pleased with progress. And I envy you the sleep.

I can definitely see a deterioration in congestion when I get flat so

I am still persisting with the elevated position.
