Guest guest
Hi , A month is pretty early on in the recovery. It can take a year or more for residual swelling to go down. Numbness? My surgeon said 5-7 years for full recovery. You might notice fairly rapid change in the weeks & early months of recovery, but then it can slow down and change is much more subtle. Patience is key. Smiling is good exercise for the upper lip muscles! > > Hi everyone, I had upper jaw advancement on Nov.11 and today is Dec. > 11....everything has healed very well but I still have some > stiffness above my lip and some numbness.......I wondered if someone > could put me at ease and let me know how long the stiff feeling and > look lasted when they had their surgery.........thanks in advance.. > > brian

Guest guest
, I had upper surgery Nov. 17th and I also still have stiffness, swelling and numbness in my cheeks, nose and upper lip. It's very annoying and I to wish it would leave soon. I've noticed when my swelling starts to go down the numbness goes away. My OS told me it could take 6 months for the swelling to be gone. I welcome any advice on how to help the swelling leave quicker. I've been doing MLD therapy (Manual Lymph Drainage)every week since surgery and it really helps at the time and relieves the pressure and stiffness for that day, but when I wake the next morning the swelling in back, but I do have to say the MLD therapy is very relaxing and I think it is helping overall. Good luck with your recovery. > > Hi everyone, I had upper jaw advancement on Nov.11 and today is Dec. > 11....everything has healed very well but I still have some > stiffness above my lip and some numbness.......I wondered if someone > could put me at ease and let me know how long the stiff feeling and > look lasted when they had their surgery.........thanks in advance.. > > brian
