Guest guest
I can't believe after being so crabby for so long, that I feel optimistic and now I am afraid I will be dissapointed. After 6 1/2 weeks, I get my wires cut tomorrow, and I just came back from food shopping. (stupid me is having Christmas eve with 18 adults, and the day after with my cousins) I bought th ings thinking I would be able to eat them this weekend. I was told I will not be banded, hopefully...I will see the OS on Friday to see how I am doing. I know I won't be able to chew for a few weeks, but this is what I bought: chopped meat for chile, liverwurst (I get cravings for it and it is mushy, tuna and the ONLY food I am missing throughout this whole ordeal is cheese and crackers. I am hoping the Ritz can dissolve in my mouth w/o full chewing? Is this possible? Please anyone who knows knock me down a notch before I am real angry this week!!! p.s. when can I go out with my husband for a Steak Dinner???? thanks, bethanne

Guest guest
Hey Bethanne, Hope your appt. to get the wires cut tomorrow goes well. I've been " eating " soft food for two weeks and I've found that my jaw joints were really sore when I started. I am a long way from chewing hard food but I've managed soft bread, spaghetti, muffins, scrambled eggs, etc. My advice is take it slow, and put SMALL pieces of food in your mouth. Your muscles may object to the new movement so be patient with yourself (easier said than done I know). With regards to the Ritz cracker, how about dunking it in liquid to soften it? I had my wires and bone screws removed 2 weeks ago but am still banded except to eat. I will be banded for 2 more weeks then the orthodontics treatment continues. Fun. My occlusion is so much better and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel so I'm trying to stay positive. But it's easy to get frustrated, isn't it? Good luck and let us know how you are! > > I can't believe after being so crabby for so long, that I feel > optimistic and now I am afraid I will be dissapointed.
